Honest answer: Yes. There's a limit of three people and three people only. That means when you four fight a dragon (in Delphine next mission you fight a dragon with the three followers) and someone dies, Delphine is too lazy to say "That's a shame, let's train another one" so choose carefully.

They might get deleted, so be sure to secure them before recruiting. They will get Blades armor set with Blades Sword and it will be their new standard armor and weapon.
