Since the Fallout TV Series on Amazon was a grand success, do you think it's inevitable that we'll get an Elder Scrolls show on the platform too or no?

^^^I also have to say I don’t think anything’s trying to rip off rings of power, or would be accused of trying to do so. It’s bafflingly badly written, and the consensus has fallen pretty definitively on the negative.
^^And yeah, that was part of the issue. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too, so… power armor works totally differently than the games, the weapons have no variety, the factions were done wrong, a major location was moved… into another location? It was very strange. Which was frustrating for the series fans, because it’s all canon, new content, and set after the latest game, making it the latest canon events in the series. And is set in California, probably the most important region to this franchise. None of these issues matter to someone who doesn’t know the difference between the brotherhood and the enclave, though, which is part of why it was so successful. It’s only series fans it abused, lol.
Back to ES, though. I really don’t think it’d that hard. You can have one argument between characters to establish what the empire is, why the Medes are controversial, and that the Thalmor are supremacist villains. They don’t need to know the factions in the war of red diamond, they only need basic primers on important concepts.
The series doesn't have to be set after Skyrim though. I see potential in a series set during the tiber wars or the war of red diamond.
Fourth era is the current focus. I could see a story around the great war, or the leadup to it, but I doubt we’ll get anything 3e or prior. That’s spin off material after a successful proof of concept.
^I might be wrong, but Skyrim is likely more popular than Oblivion or any of the games prior. Probably means more people would be interested in 4E, and that equals more money.
I've been letting this stew, and I think a combination of the two ideas would be best. I think that anything taking place after Skyrim should be limited to games, and a show should be used exclusively for settings that have a zero chance of being in a game. At first I was thinking it would be a prequel series about awesome background lore that hasn't been seen on-screen (Alessian Rebellion, Tiber Wars), but that would be mostly appealing to less casual fans, arguably a minority of the audience.
But a story adjacent to the story of one of the games would be the best of both worlds. An example of this would be The Life of Saint Juib. It would be an effective cinematic interpretation of Morrowind, connected partially to the game's story, but won't actually follow it. Morrowind would also be a wonderful setting for its uniqueness and capability for a special effects showcase.
Another idea is an anthology series about Tamriel during the Oblivion crisis, tackling a theme familiar to the fans while also encorporating a unique storyline. I for one would love to see the Daedric attack of Ald'Ruhn, the Argonians completely wipe the floor with Dagon's forces, as well as things that definitely happened but were never talked about, like Oblivion gates appearing in Skyrim.
Okay maybe that isn't a "both worlds" scenario but you get what I mean
I don't think it really matters that casual fans currently aren't too invested in the Alessian Slave Rebellion or the Tiber Wars. A good show will make them care. However, i think it's a lot harder to get casuals interested in an anthology of what happened in the oblivion crisis, since they won't have any compelling characters to latch onto for the duration of the series.
Hmm, true I guess
Yeah, anthologies aren’t a good way to adapt an IP. I also sincerely doubt they’ll touch anything closely connected to a game besides skyrim, just not well known enough.
^^^^^For no reason, I have this slight obsession over Jiub and I smile every time he's mentioned, so I think I'd love a Life of Saint Jiub. Something like an extended version of the Opus would really be my cup of tea.
What do you think?
