I would prefer if the cities were bigger but 500,000 is a bit much. Honestly if it were anything like maybe New Vegas or bigger, I'd be happy. Also worth mentioning is the Imperial City.

I love them all. From Bosmer to Orsimer, they all have very unique cultures, but my absolute favorite are the Dunmer. They are so varied, and have a culture completely their own. Most of the races in the Elder Scrolls are based on some sort of real life culture or mythological one, but the Dunmer have such unique querks and characters. Also giant mushrooms.

I've had a similar problem, what I did was make an auto-save on all of my characters (by waiting) and then making the new game. If a character gets overwritten load their auto save and make a new save.

No there's nothing like that. You either have to A.) Feed often enough, B.) Cure your vampirism, or C.) Roleplay a character that avoids civilization.
