So, I’ve been playing Oblivion for a while now on my Xbox 360 and I finally reached the final quest in the Thieves Guild questline. I made short work of the dungeon but when I reached the door to the Imperial Guard Quarters, after I fired the Arrow of Extrication, it says that it’s locked and requires a key to open. Furthermore, after I killed the Ayleid Guardians, they just dropped their weapons and assumed fistfighting stances, but none of my attacks have any effect on them. I have tried just about everything I can think of to try and fix it, including firing the arrow again into the door itself, trying to initiate some kind of fight with the Guardians, letting the dungeon reset itself, reactivating the Glass of Time, stealing a Palace Key from one of the Palace Guards, and even trying to enter through the door inside the palace. Nothing has worked. I’ve tried googling solutions but I’ve found nothing useful. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?
What's on your mind?

Oblivion
I’m playing Oblivion and I suddenly started getting CTDs with my game freezing for a moment before crashing. These happened to me before, quite rarely though, but now I can’t fight more than 3 enemies at once without crashing. It started after starting the Shivering Isles questline, namely the Better Mousetrap quest after which I’ve returned straight to Cyrodiil. However, when I went to kill Sybilla Draconis in the cave (I can’t remember the name, sorry), the game kept crashing. I thought this was location exclusive, so I’ve somehow beat the short dungeon and proceeded to the Skingrad Oblivion Gate where I had some bussiness. But my game KEEPS crashing. Is it something from my mod load order posted below or should I reload the save created just before entering the Isles and replay? I’d really like to play the questline, so I’m willing to disable any of my mods for the time being (and replace some forever if they’re conflicting). And no, it wasn’t happening in the Isles, but I wasn’t fighting there much.
My mod load order (in alphabetical order):
All DLCs
OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender)
Akaviri Battle Cat (V5.1 - black)
Akaviri War Dog
Arrows Weight Nothing (+Shivering Isles Add-on)
Blockhead
Children of Cyrodiil V1.1
HugTouch
Kvatch Rebuilt (+No More Burned Ground)
Nord Battle Wolf
Oblivion Character Overhaul V2
+All DLC CompatibilityPatches for OCO
OCO Better Martin and Adoring Fan
Oblivion Marriage
Realistic Player Dialogue Overhaul
T3al Marriage Tweak
Toaster Says Share&Recruit
(Worth mentioning that my TSS companion/husband followed me to the Isles and worked as normal without the Rumors dialogue option which returned after going back to Cyrodiil, but the animals didn’t.)
The wiki page for crayfish cave says there's at least 3 grand soul gems inside, cant find any of em
It seems lately oblivion has been super SUPER glitchy, I loot an npc. It freezes for a few seconds/minutes. I attack an NPC. It freezes for a few seconds. I exit the door-
Yeah I think you get my point now.
It seems I can't do ANYTHING without the game lagging. ( Please dont suggest mods / fix downloads I cannot get those ).
I don't know if its just me? or if this has been frequent with others?
I'd like to hear from my other oblivion players
I was exploring oblivion and I found some weird altar/ Circle thingy. Anyone know what this is?:
( Im stupid ok?)
I know in Skyrim that there is a quest with them, But in Oblivion didn't the Hero of Kvatch become Sheogorath? Does that mean theoretically we're talking to ourselves/ past life? I know that the gender you played as doesn't effect the gender appearance. So are we talking to Sheogorath or The hero? Im really confused on this because we free Jyggalag and become Sheogorath, he even says so. Im sure eventually that they would go mad and forget who they were as a mortal but how do we know? Sheogorath is talking to Pelagius when we start the quest and he died long before the oblivion crisis. Any thoughts on this?

I almost always play a mage thief in oblivion and wanted to change it up with a warrior/battle mage orc possibly. Anyone have any advice?
How can I avoid being a vampire in oblivion it seems like every time I play it I get bit.
So I played a little oblivion today...And I was wondering what are your thoughts on the Mages Guild Recommendations?
Example Questions-
Which one is your favorite?
Least favorite?
Did you like them or not?
Would you want them to be reintroduced in the next installment?
Here are all the Recommendations and their description to help jog your memory-
Anvil: Travel to an inn and become bait for a bloodthirsty murder whom has a taste for traveling merchants
Bravil: You are instructed to retrieve a staff from a thief using the charm spells you are given. He will point you to the merchant he sold it to. Then you use your charm to get the staff back.
Bruma: The kitty is missing! You help the lady find the cat by stealing a book from her for a promising friend. The friend then reavals that he was just indeed invisible! Just a harmless prank.
Cheyindal: You are told to fetch a ring from the backyard well, only to find it weighs more than you! Make your way out the well, steal some black soul gems, and live happily ever after.
Skingrad: Go to a far off cave, kick some undead butt, and some the Erthor in distress!
Leyawiin: Head to Fort Blueblood. Kill some bandits, take some dead guys necklace, and be betrayed by the very quest giver? That wasn't part of the plan...
Chorrol: Lizard dude wants the weird lady off his lawn. Go up to a random mountain and take a book of a charred corpse. Nothing strange about that!
My favorite one is personally the Bruma recommendation, which is debatably the easiest one to complete.
The only ones I remembered before I replayed it was the Bruma and Cheyendial ones. The Bruma one is just funny and gets you a free unlock spell as a bonus.
I also think that these recommendations were a great introduction into the mages guild. And I wouldn't be mad if I saw them get revamped.
I've been playing Oblivion for some time now (racked up about 350 hours) but have found that in certain locations the game freezes and the only way out is to do a computer reset. I thought it was because I had a dicky program so I invested in the full gold version with the full set of new quests. I didn't want to start again from scratch so I have kept my saved games. Unfortunately the problem persists so it isn't the game that is the problem (or is it?)
I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem and is there any way of stopping the freeze. There apear to be exclusion zones created if you start a quest and come out of it before it is completed. Return to the area near the quest location becomes impossible due to the freeze.
Is it a game requirement to complete quests in one go? If it is then why is there no mention of it in the game instructions>
So im doing Lost Histroies thieve seems guild quest in oblivion, and im wondering if stolen items in oblivion eventually are marked as not stolen. Anyone know?
So I destroyed the Cheyinhad(however you spell it)Oblivion Gate but I accidentally killed the counts knight kid(who I was suppose to rescue)when they were in a sword fight with a priest. Anyway I done them the service of that and served my sentence yet the count wont talk to me(except for saying get out of my face). And I don't even have a previous autosave to fall back on

Hey, everyone. So I've been thinking about trying Oblivion. The only person I know who has a copy, my sister, has told me the controls are archaic and that I might get bored, but I'm not sure. I'm asking everyone here what their opinions are on Oblivion; on it's controls, story, graphics, nuances, factions, etc.

I’ve recently started playing Oblivion again, and I’ve forgotten how much more interesting, entertaining, and unique the NPCs are. They feel like they have their own individual personalities. Which makes me wonder, what happened during Skyrim’s development that took these colorful character’s away from us? Like seriously, they had everything from serious no-nonsense badasses, to cheese-obsessed shepherds. Why’d Skyrim throw that away?
