"While I wouldn't call the Argonians of Murkmire verbose, they've certainly been forthcoming about their practices."
―Arawende[src]

Arawende is an Altmer residing in the Lilmoth Guild Hall of Murkmire in Black Marsh. She can be found studying books in the main room of the Guild Hall.

Background[]

Arawende is a member of the Mages Guild and, as such, is academically involved in magical arts and sciences. She studies and observes the use and culture involvement of magic by Argonian tribes in Murkmire. Through such studies, the Mages Guild believes that there is a fundamental difference between tribal Argonian magic and magic typically practiced elsewhere.

Personality[]

Although she finds the tribal Argonians forthcoming, even if long-winded, Arawende has difficulty understanding their abstract and untechnical descriptions. She regards their understanding of magic to be less theoretical, being based more upon cultural metaphor rather than objective comprehension, frustrating her.

Quotes[]

  • "While I wouldn't call the Argonians of Murkmire verbose, they've certainly been forthcoming about their practices. Now if I only understood half of what they say …."
  • "The way some of these Argonian mages talk about their magic is … frustrating, to say the least. "A smidgen of this root, a pinch of that. Feel the wind! Let the earth move you!" Really, how can one practice under such uncontrolled conditions?"
  • "There is conclusive evidence that Argonian magic is fundamentally different than the practices of mer and man. The Mages Guild wishes to study those differences, and see what can be learned from them."
  • "I've spoken to many mages in Murkmire about their practices, and most have been happy to share. But the way they speak is so — metaphorical. Abstract. Overall, near impossible for an outsider to understand."
