Attunement Sphere is a device created by the Dwemer in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that was used in conjunction with a Dwarven Mechanism to access Blackreach.

It is a miscellaneous item in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim given to the Dragonborn by Septimus Signus during the quest "Discerning the Transmundane."

Function[]

They were used in three specific Dwemer cities: Alftand, Mzinchaleft, and Raldbthar to unlock the way to Blackreach by placing them into Dwarven Mechanisms.

Trivia[]

  • There's also a second Attunement Sphere in Sinderion's Field Laboratory in Blackreach.
  • The Attunement Sphere changes color as it plays music that the Dwemer ruins uses to open ancient doors.
  • If the Attunement Sphere is taken from Septimus' corpse, it may be stuck in the Dragonborn's inventory, listing it as a quest item. The same can apply to the Blank Lexicon and Runed Lexicon as well.

  • The inventory image of the sphere was changed in the 1.4 update to a red color, along with the Runed Lexicon, but there seems to be a problem with it keeping this new color. It sometimes switches back and forth.
  • If Alftand, Mzinchaleft, and Raldbthar reset after they are cleared, the Dwarven Mechanisms may also reset, forcing the Dragonborn to use the Attunement Sphere again in order to regain access to Blackreach.
  • If the Attunement Sphere or the Runed Lexicon have been taken after completion of the quest, there is no way to get them out of the inventory.
    • One possible solution is to use the console command player.removeitem 0003532c #, where # is the number of spheres present in inventory.
    • Another possible solution is to use the console command player.drop 0003532c #, where # is the number of spheres present in inventory.
    • If The Elder Scrolls V: Hearthfire is installed, another solution is to store both of these items in the "Exterior Building Supplies" chest.
  • Septimus may not even take the sphere from the Dragonborn after returning with the Runed Lexicon.
