There are a variety of recreational alcoholic beverages that are found across Skyrim. Many inns and taverns allow people to relax and drink while listening to a bard perform.
Cultural impact and effects
Alcohol is an important social medium in the lives of Skyrim's inhabitants, though there is something of a love-hate relationship with it, which can be seen in the many people who enjoy it, and the people who abuse it such as Ranmir in Winterhold and Bralsa Drel in Raven Rock. Skooma is frowned upon by many, as it is a highly addictive and powerful drug. A hold guard might comment that a man claimed to see a Psijic monk and that the man must have been hallucinating due to skooma use. Ironically, skooma, along with Cliff Racer, White-Gold Tower, and Velvet LeChance does not have any negative effects on the Dragonborn aside from a minor and temporary change in vision.
All alcoholic beverages change stamina in some way. Skooma, Cyrodilic Brandy, Argonian Ale, Velvet LeChance, White-Gold Tower, and Cliff Racer are considered to be potions because they restore stamina. The rest are labeled as food items.
A few of the wine beverages have different bottle variations. Several types of empty wine bottles as well as empty skooma bottles exist. When viewed, the Spiced Wine bottle's label reads "San's Spiced Wine."
