First thought that went through my head about the blade. I don't really like it much in the movies, though. It doesn't look elven.
Nordic weapons are made by the skaal, who have been making/improving them through the ages, they are better than the ancient weapons that most people think of as the Nordic weapons. people in skyrim simply only have access to the ones that have been laying around for thousands of years
Funny, because I find that this sword (Especially the pommel and the shape of the grip) resembles a Kopis, which is a broad term for a Greek single edged weapon. If you look on Google Images at contemporary Kopis swords, you will notice the resemblance.
Fudgemuppet uses it as a Machete-like weapon in this Argonian Slave build they made awhile back. Fits the Argonian theme perfectly, because Argonians usually would use these in their marsh-like environment.
I almost read that as "khopesh," which is an Egyptian sword/battleaxe hybrid. If so, that would've kinda coincided with my theory Egyptian customs (burying rulers in large tombs with their servants so they can be served in death as they were in life) heavily influenced the Nordic culture.
Last time I checked Stalhrim is the only equipment that can only be crafted by the Skaal (Apart from the player of course). Not to mention you can find tons of bandits with Nordic equipment all around Skyrim. So yes, I too find it weird that no NPC go around with these weapons/armours.
Please correct me if there is a lore page or if someone says in-game that Skaal are the only ones being able to craft them.
Actually, in my game, Vulwulf Snow Shod, Dirge, and some others nords in skyrim use a nordic sword.
WTF nord true home land is Atmora dud dum skyrim is snow-elf home land
