I am planning on starting a new character but I'm having trouble choosing between these two. What do you guys think?

I was actually going more for a Paladin. You know a spell in one hand and a sword in the other. I was also planning that I could wear light armor since I've never worn light armor on a character except for my mage but he wears robes.
They could both go well for that mixed build so its down to which you think looks cooler really spend sometime playing with the character creator at the start of the game see what you can make.
Magic and light armor make me think of Dunmer though be an intresting roleplay a Dunmer Paladin as you'd be a holy warrior for the three Daedric Prince's they worship.
Redguard and Breton are the only ones I haven't been. I completely forgot about the Dunmer character I had because he wore light armor. It was along time ago, though. So I guess I'm going Breton.
Also, the Redguard's 50% resistance to poison is overwhelmed by the Wood Elf's 50% resistance to both disease and poison. The Bretons I would say have the best racial ability because if you mix it with the atronach stone then you are unstoppable against spells. And they have a 25% resistance to all magic which is extremely useful against mages and dragons. Adrenaline rush is also good but I really don't need it.
If you want a nice Magicka racial boost go Breton or if you want a warrior racial boost go Redguard. Personally I'd go Breton because, well MAGICKA!!!!
I know this isn't any of the two races, but I made a paladin build myself and it worked out great, I used one handed, heavy armor, smithing (just wanted to get some daedric armor), and restoration. my preferred race was Imperials, they had a +5 boost to one handed, heavy armor, and destruction if you want to make it a bit of a battlemage. there is a +10 boost to restoration as well, and that was very useful. If you want to use light armor, you can, the early game boosts don't matter later in the game. you could go Breton for the magic resistance which will be useful for just about anything, but if you want to come out of Helgen with some good damaging capabilities then go Redguard. Breton's racial power is good for fighting mages and dragons, and you can combine it with the Atronach Stone to make yourself temporarily immune to all spells. However, Redguard's racial ability to regenerate Stamina is really good in all fights, so you can power attack your enemies to shreds.
same person from the above post, I played on Expert difficulty with my Paladin build and was level 25 and had a full set of daedric armor, daedric sword, adept-level restoration spell close wounds, 50 one handed, 40 heavy armor, 40 restoration, and 100 smithing. Literally nothing could kill me, if I had low health I just casted close wounds and boom, max health again. took on dragons and dragon priests and came out on top. only stopped cuz I got bored, and wanted to try out another build, I was way over powered. If I had 100 one handed and heavy armor along with 90 restoration, i'd beat the crap out of everything. Actually, I still do.
Breton imo.
hahahaha (laughing in superiority and crying because of me being to OP) im a literial God. I pick normally a Breten if im doing a mage build, Argonian for a two-handed palading and Nord fr a God-build. I timed how long it'd take to get 100 in every stat and it takes about 16 hours (13 if you don't count time to create God-gear and enchant it) or by using the training (pay NPC) glitch route then it'll take 5 and a half hours from when u start the game. I was able to play the whole game on Legenedary and fight the named dragons not as their default form but as Legendary Dragon! (Legendary Dragon version of nammed dragons are even stronger than Ebony warrior and Karstaag's damage output at level 251). Also its so broken that i have 4500 Hp, 81% stealth, 273% Archery, 273% one-handed (273% +81% if i get rid of stealth), 162% Resist Magic (imune to all dragon breath and magic or elemental damages except the Drain Vitality or Marked For Death Legendary Dragon Shouts), 162% Fortify Destruction (0cost destruction spell cast and infinite charge on destruction enchants on my weapons), 81% Fortify Health (4500Hp + 81%), 3281 stalrim damage Bow (Chaos Damage - 204 points (because of frost stalrim bow also boosts fire and shoch of cahos damage for some reason) and fire 163 points (181 points if u do frost instead of fire) (163 is highest you can get regardless unless u use glitch to get higher (there is a multiplier to destruction enchants if u combine it with another destruction enchantment like Chaos (otherwise on its own highest is 142 points))), and 391 damage dagger (dont know why i cant enchance further to 1891 damage enchants are shock and chaos but value is same for sword), and my 2781 damage sword (i think i forgot, highest without enchntment enhancements on gear like fortify one-handed is 431 damage) enchantments are Chaos Damage 181 points (becuse dragonbone not stalrim so no bonus) and 163 fire damge.
im so OP i one shoted ebony warrior without a power attack. all this is possible BTW through LEGIT MEANS and METHODS and NO FORTIFY RESTORATION GLITCH WAS USED. if u don't believe me go try it out. any higher than my values (i had only 3 on-handed and archery enchantments on total cause ring and necklece had one each and resist magic on ring and necklece. 81% is highest enchntment enhancement possible, any higher and it is glicthed).
I know ur saying this isn't fun but i edited my game to a God-mode legendary difficaulty where each and every enenmy has their health, defenses, and damage increasesed and multiplier to what the ebony warrior was. Ebony warriors stats were also multiplied (X10) to match my enchantments. evrything in game was multiplier and the skill tree statistics of enimeis were maxed out in every stat. this means like the Ebony Warrior who has heavy armor 100 and the perks in it. (80% damgae reduction and 100% armor rating (if armor rating exceeds 1600 i think, then u get a passive 80% damage reduction ontop of perks)) this means enemies have 1600% damage reduction but i obviously wouldn't be able to hurt them then so i made it that if they have a damge reduction of 85%+ then any extra will be converted to health and 10% (of 1600%) into damge. This was the most fun i have ever had, That's why PC and Mods are amazing (Ps4 still better).
I remcomend you trying this if you have PC. I just got random Mods that increase difficaulty but they were easy to find so you should be able to as well. also if enemy dealt to weak damage i made it so if they deal 40 points out of my 100% health (4500 hp) then their damage is multiplied by 100 % automatically, making them deal 400 points of damage which goes through my damage reduction by default.
