Couldn't agree more.
Don't know what it is about Skyrim. But I first bought that game mid 2012. It's 2016 now. Something about it keeps me coming back to that game.
Well, I'm not much of a gamer, but Skyrim is the game I play the most. I don't even mod it and it is still possible to spend hours in it... Without even getting into any questlines. So yeah, statistically, it's my favorite game too.
Edit: my brother prefers Morrowind though. But then again, his Macbook can't run Skyrim.
No other game (except for Runescape) has been able to attract me so much, that I have spent long periods of time being absorbed into the game. And every time I quit, I end up coming right back into it. Restarted several times and still never bored.
So yes, best game ever. Hands down. Hope Elder Scrolls 6 will be as good, or dare I wish, even better.
Funny.
You can observe a certain pattern in Bethesda under Emil Pagliarulo.
Morrowind, Fallout and Fallout 2 are - to this day - hailed as masterpieces that succeeded in combining atmosphere, art style, story and Lore.
Oblivion and Fallout: New Vegas are also hailed as works of wonders, to be admired and respected (even though the former could use better voice actors and art style).
Yet, Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 are often dismissed as lesser, more "casual". despite being commercially more succesful.
The first five games under Michael Kirkbride and Interplay/Black Isle, respectively... and the last three under Emil Pagliarulo and Bethesda.
It's interesting to see the shift before and after the games' lead writers were replaced.
Skyrim is my second most played game behind gmod, but only because I was a server dev for a TTT server for a long ass time. Skyrim is definitely my favourite game of all time my girlfriend just listens to me talk about it and she finds it hilarious.
Still, I'm in the minority who played it on PC since launch and then after that I had to go to Xbox 360 so I miss my mods all the time and the game is a hell of a lot different when you're forced to play vanilla after coming from TUSP and some brilliant mods out there. Oh, and commands. This game is definitely a different beast with mods.
Still, arguably one of the best franchises of all time and the whole ES franchise has also arguably one of the best storylines and lore to it. Also, it has communities like this which are still active after 4 years of the game's release.
I can't wait for the next ES game, BEthesda have kept pretty well with all the different games, they took away different skills and such but kept a lot of the armours and weapons and spells which I hope rings true with the next game.
SKYRIM FOREVER <3
