More like 2/9 of it's original size... and that's asuming the Skyrim is subdued, the dominions influence covers 1/3 of the original empire
1/3 its original size before the Skyrim Civil War, after the War their size is determinant on the player's actions so we don't know that is canon or not. The Dominion's influence covers 2/3 of the Original Empire since they influence their own territories as well as the Empire's current territories.
So basically we all agree that the empire cannot ally themselves with hammerfell, and skyrim can, with the fact that skyrim sent a ally report to high rock that has not been answerd yet, the stormcloaks are the best chance for humanity, a alliance between hammerfell, high rock, and skyrim!!! ULFRIC FOR HIGH KING!
This is very reasonable, the only remaining question would be; will the empire stand by it's decades long alliance with the dominion and make this another bloody war for both sides, or accept that they aren't the ones in total dominance of the others and join with them to crush the dominion with barely any opposition from the Admeri?
Don't forget Morrowind, you would probably help too, consider they aren't really on superb terms with the Aldmeri Dominion or the Empire...
Indeed, House Redorans respect for honour and martial prowes as well as gratitude toward Skyrim for aid durring the Red year would see Morrowind in good terms with the Stormcloaks.
Some say Morrowind doesn't have any power left, but I like to point out that they defended morrowind durring the Oblivion Crisis when the empire abandoned them, they also drove the Argonians from morrowind... and the Argonians had Dagon calling retreat and sealing the Oblivion Gates in Blackmarsh himself to prevent being conquered by them, now if Morrowind lost many soldiers in these engagements or if they are still in a hold off with Blackmarsh we do not know, but it is good to have a nation with sympathies for your cause on your border.

Not really. The Argonians retreated by themselves after they invaded southern Morrowind. They never really planned to keep that part of Morrowind, let alone defend it from the Dunmer. It was more like a fast attack to get revenge on the Dunmer while they were weakened.

Of course the Argonians retreated by themselves, no one else was fighting alnong side them, so when the Redoran Guard halted their progress into Morrowind and drove back against them, they of course not wanting to be slaughtered retreated ... oh, and look at the timeline of the Argonian invasion, from 4e5 to 4e10... hardly a hit and run.
I'm not gonna go into a full page essay about why you should join this or that. All I'm gonna say is, I joined the Stormcloaks because the Empire tried to kill an innocent bystander, who so happened to be the Dragonborn.
Titus Mede II is just a random Colovian warlord that just happen to casually rule the Empire and sit his ass in the ruby throne withotu any true rights, mind you, he is a great warlord/General but not an emperor, not a baller, not a pragmatic leader, basically he is the worst man on earht that could possibly run the Empire now that there is a mortal struggle bewteen Men and Mer.
In short words, he is not a Dragonborn Emperor of old (Septim Dinasty) , the Empire shall fall and something new and hopefully mroe powerfull should rise from ashes.
A great Alliance of independent Men nations perhaps??? seriously the Empire is too old, corrupted il ladvised, bad ruled and last but not least, the Septim Diansty died out, which was basically the only thing that glued the Empire togheter, the Empire need to go, and Bethesda know it.
