Main article: Thieves Guild Quests (Morrowind)

Books for Vala is a Thieves Guild quest in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Gentleman Jim Stacey sends the Nerevarine off to recover four books: all four volumes of Brief History of the Empire. Then give them to Vala Catraso.

BackgroundEdit

Gentleman Jim Stacey asked me to steal Odral Helvi's exquisite copies of "A Brief History of the Empire" and deliver them to Vala Catraso in the Ald'ruhn Guild of Mages. Odral Helvi is in the Governor's Hall in Caldera.

ObjectivesEdit

WalkthroughEdit

Upon completion of "Brallion's Ring," if the Nerevarine speaks with Gentleman Jim Stacey, he will tell you to head to Caldera steal copies of Brief History of the Empire from a corrupt man named Odral Helvi and deliver them to Vala Catraso in Ald'ruhn so that she may use them when teaching people to read.

Head to Caldera. Odral Helvi lives in the Governor's hall. To get to him, use the flight of stairs on the far end of the room, to your right. Walk past Helvi and go through the door on your left. In this room, there should be a locked and trapped chest. Helvi's personal copies of Brief History of the Empire should be inside. If you are a member of House Hlaalu, make sure not to get caught stealing them, or you will be expelled.

Head to Ald'ruhn and deliver the books to Vala Catraso. She will be in the Mages Guild, on the lower level, by the shrine. Make sure you are wearing your Bal Molagmer gloves while you present the books to her.

Return to Gentleman Jim Stacey.

If you have previously completed the House Hlaalu quest "Shipment of Ebony" and reported Helvi to Segunivus Mantedius, he will be in prison, making it very easy to steal his books.
