Border Crossings are locations in The Elder Scrolls Online that allow the Vestige to move from one zone to another neighbouring zone without the use of wayshrines. They are typically unmarked locations at the edge of a zone, but may also be marked points of interest or striking locales. Border crossings are distinct from travel services caravaners and navigators that allow the Vestige to travel to other far away zones. They can take the form of interactive gates or bridges, tunnels, or roads that can be walked down to transition between zones. In Western Skyrim and Greymoor Caverns as well as the Reach and Arkthzand Cavern, the great lifts are used to transition between the two zones without using wayshrines.

- Despite each alliance having two border gates into their provinces, there is no way to enter Cyrodiil by passing through a crossing. The only external border crossing that exists is the Cyrodiil Gate Garrison in Craglorn that is inaccessible. Likewise, Cyrodiil cannot be left to go to any other connected provinces via the alliance gates and can only be entered by using the Alliance War menu to select a campaign.
