Bounty Quests are a category of miscellaneous quests given to the Dragonborn in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

General

Bounty quests can be acquired by the player in several different ways throughout the game. One of the most common ways is for the player to talk to an innkeeper. Telling the innkeeper that you are "looking for work" will normally give the player a bounty quest.

Or the player can talk to the Jarl's steward, asking for work. He will then give the bounty note.

It is also possible to receive these quests from helping other faction NPCs. Most of the bounty quests are given with a Bounty Note that tells the player where to go and what to kill.

After completion of each bounty, the player will receive a reward. To receive it, the player will have to go to the Jarl's steward or the Jarl themselves and ask for the reward. The steward or the Jarl will then give the reward to the player.

Bugs

  • If the bounty is to kill a Dragon at a Dragon Lair you've already cleared by killing the resident dragon, another dragon will spawn at the area, but you will not receive its soul.
    • Fix: Push the corpse away from the Dragon lair with a spell which causes objects in the world to fly around (such as Firebolt, Fireball or Reanimate Corpse). When the corpse of the Dragon is far enough away from the Dragon lair, the soul will then be received.
  • Template:360Some bounties for locations in The Rift, such as Rift Watchtower and Nilheim, cannot be completed if the Bandit Leader has been killed during radiant quests (ex. Retrieve Kharjo's Moon Amulet) as they do not respawn for some unknown reason.
