Cadwell the Betrayer is the reanimated human form of Cadwell in The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr.
Background[]
- "I always heard that ... introspection could be difficult. But meeting yourself .. no one likes to discover that they were a tallow-catch. Try not to ... hold it against me. Him and me ... we're two sides of a ... dented coin."
- ―Cadwell[src]
Cadwell was a former friend of Khunzar-ri, a mythical hero of Elsweyr. Out of a lust for power, Cadwell betrayed Khunzari-ri by murdering him with a stab in the back. This earned him the nickname, "the Betrayer." Cadwell sought to claim the power of the Dragons locked within Plane of Jode and killed anyone who got in his way, including the priests of Shadow Moon Temple.
As he was the strongest knight of his time, it took great effort on the part of his enemies to finally defeat him. The Betrayer was dismembered and his body parts scattered. A fragment of his essence re-emerged in Coldharbour, under the name "Cadwell." The fragment of the Betrayer had lost all memory of his past, become insane and developed a genuinely good nature.
During the Second Era, Zumog Phoom sought to resurrect the Betrayer by gathering his body parts and the essence from Cadwell. The resurrection was a success, and the Betrayer immediately sought to continue his ambitions and seek out Jode's Core. Since the world could not handle the existence of two Cadwells, the other Cadwell disappeared while the Betrayer walked free.[1]
Appearance[]
Both in flashbacks and upon his resurrection, the Betrayer wore a black suit of armor and wielded a long sword. He also physically resembled Cadwell of Coldharbour.
Interactions[]
Cadwell the Betrayer[]
Zumog Phoom intends to resurrect the Betrayer using his body parts and the essence of the other Cadwell. The Vestige is sent by Khamira to try and prevent the resurrection. [?]
