Cassynder Septim (3E 147/149[1]–3E 202[2]) was the fourteenth ruler of the Empire of Tamriel.
Biography[]
Born the sole child of Emperor Pelagius Septim III and Empress Katariah Septim, Cassynder inherited the throne on the death of his mother. Already middle-aged and in poor health, he left the care of High Rock province to his half-brother Uriel Lariat, though as the only true blood relation of Pelagius Septim III, and thus Tiber Septim himself, he was pressed into accepting the throne. He died after only two years of rule. His half-brother Uriel Lariat succeeded him and was crowned Uriel Septim IV.[3]
Trivia[]
- According to Brief History of the Empire, Book II, he would have died in 3E 201. The Third Era Timeline contradicts this, however, stating he died in 3E 202.
- Despite Katariah being a Dunmer and the mother of Cassynder, Katariah was noted as being the only Dunmer to rule Tamriel.[4]
Notes[]
- ↑ While The Madness of Pelagius claims that Pelagius III was Utheilla's son, The Wolf Queen, Book VII claims that it was Hellena who was the mother of Pelagius. Former designer and writer for Bethesda Softworks Ted Peterson explains that The Madness of Pelagius is incorrect, and Hellena is Pelagius' mother. If true, this would also mean that Cassynder Septim would not be Utheilla's grandson.
