Main article: Effects (Morrowind)

Disintegrate is an effect in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind that is a member of the Destruction school of magic, governed by Willpower. Its base Magicka cost is 6.00 points.

Disintegrate Armor MW Disintegrate armorEdit

"This effect damages the health rating of an equipped piece of armor on a touched or ranged victim."
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Construction Set[src]

The armor damage caused by the Disintegrate effect is restricted to one item at a time, and is not divided among equipped items. If a target is equipped with a shield it takes priority, otherwise a chestpiece is damaged. Afterwards the effect goes from the Left Pauldron, Right Pauldron, Left Gauntlet, Right Gauntlet, Helm, Greaves, and finally to the Boots. If a piece of armor breaks it is automatically unequipped and any subsequent use of a Disintegrate effect will affect a remaining equipped item. If a Disintegrate effect's target does not have a piece of armor equipped the spell has no affect, as unequipped items in one's inventory are never affected.

Disintegrate Weapon MW Disintegrate weaponEdit

"This effect damages the health rating of an equipped weapon on a touched or ranged victim."
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Construction Set[src]

The target must have a weapon equipped and drawn for the effect to have an affect. A holstered weapon and unequipped weapons in the victim's inventory are not affected.

* The following items consist of a Disintegrate Armor effect only.

  • As with most Destruction magic, using a Disintegrate effect on others is considered a crime, and will turn otherwise friendly people hostile if used outside of combat.
  • Use of the spell is one of the few ways to take another's armor without slaying them, as the unequipped item may then be subsequently pickpocketed. This is useful for otherwise unobtainable or unique armors worn by allied factions.
