"I walked the streets of Dune in the early afternoon. The painted pavilions and sculptures were intertwined with carvings of glinting golds, reds, and blacks, all beckoning you to take in their beauty and touch. The sandy thoroughfare I strolled upon was mostly dung-free, despite drovers passing, expertly wrangling their herds of cattle and horses."
Flaccus Terentius[src]

Dune is one of the eight major cities in the province of Elsweyr, situated along the western provincial border in the region of Reaper's March. Dune is a merchant's metropolis amidst the war-torn grasslands of the March, also known for their tea parlors.

History

First Era

Second Era

Main article: Dune (Online)

At one point, the Dakarn Clan of Khajiit had taken control of the organized crime in Dune and Thizzrini Arena all the while, fighting the Vinedusk Tribe of Bosmeri in Reaper's March.[1]

During the Alliance War, Dune was attacked twice by Daedric Forces. Once in 2E 581, outside the city when a dolmen was opened on the outskirts of Dawnmead. The invaders were luckily defeated when a group of Fighters Guild hunters came to the city after seeing the events unfold in a dream.[2]

The second attack occurred a year later in 2E 582, before the Lunar Champion became the new Mane after Akkhuz-ri. Javad Tharn lead an assault on the city with daedra. The Aldmeri Dominion, and the Eyes of the Queen lead by Queen Ayrenn protected the city from the daedric threat. The Moon Hallowed and the Lunar Champion defeated Javad Tharn at the Two Moons Path.

Third Era

Main article: Dune (Arena)

During the Imperial Simulacrum from 3E 389 to 3E 399, Emperor Uriel Septim VII was imprisoned along with Talin Warhaft in the Deadlands by Jagar Tharn. Tharn planned for months to capture the throne, and he was able to achieve so in the span of ten years. Tharn had a powerful weapon called the Staff of Chaos, and he split it into nine pieces and scattered them across Tamriel, the staff was the only thing keeping Uriel Septim and Warhaft in Oblivion. A warrior escaped his clutches and traveled all corners of Tamriel to retrieve the missing pieces. The hero was known as the Eternal Champion, and he assembled the staff and defeated Jagar Tharn at the Imperial Palace. The Eternal Champion had at one point visited the city of Dune in their quest to recover the pieces. The city of Dune was under the rule of King Ab'ir.[3]
