Dungeons in The Elder Scrolls: Arena come in a variety of types and shapes, and contain various different types of enemies. There are four main types of dungeons: quest dungeons, random dungeons, crypts and towers.
Quest dungeons[]
Quest dungeons are fixed and static; they will always have the same name, location, layout and appearance regardless of playthrough. These are the dungeons related to the main quest of the game:
- Imperial Dungeons
- Stonekeep
- Fang Lair
- Fortress of Ice
- Labyrinthian
- Selene's Web
- Elden Grove
- Temple of Agamanus
- The Halls of Colossus
- Temple of the Mad God
- Crystal Tower
- Mines of Khuras
- Crypt of Hearts
- Vaults of Gemin
- Murkwood
- Black Gate
- Dagoth-Ur
- Imperial Palace
Random dungeons[]
Each province contains fourteen random dungeons that can be unlocked by accepting random side quests. These are fixed in number and location, but not in name, which is determined at the time of the quest. Random dungeons are composed of two or four square blocks with two exits on each side; the stair location leading to the next level is always in the same spot in the northeastern part of the block. The stairs leading to the upper and lower floors are almost always situated due east or west of each other.
Crypts[]
Crypts are small, single-level dungeons occasionally found in the wilderness and distinguished by proximity to nearby graveyards. Potential enemies are almost always undead.
Towers[]
Towers are small multistory dungeons occasionally found in the wilderness and are distinguished by walls, surrounding water, and being 3-4 stories tall. Potential enemies can come in a wide variety, including humans and creatures such as animals, undead and daemons from the Netherworld.
