"Ebony can only be worked when heated. It will develop small cracks that eventually shatter the material if hammered cold. Unlike most other armors, Ebony will not alloy with iron. It must be used pure."
―Sven Two-Hammers[src]

TriviaEdit

  • In real life, "ebony" is not a metal or even a mineral, but a type of wood from the Diospyros genus of trees. Like the in-game version of ebony, it is black, dense, and quite valuable, although it is primarily used for ornamentation.
  • The ebony material, being described as a "glass-like volcanic substance," may be The Elder Scrolls equivalent of obsidian.
