Ebony Mail, also suffixed as Ebony Mail of Sneaking and Poison Radius Damage, is a Daedric artifact granted by the Daedric Lord Boethiah upon completing a quest which varies across each title in the series. Initially appearing in The Elder Scrolls: Arena, the only game in the main series that it does not appear in is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Worn about the chest as armor, the artifact is typically black in color across games with various magical effects.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena

During the Third Era, the Eternal Champion was an owner of the mail. It was hidden in Black Marsh after the previous owner, a warrior named Helath Stormbinder lost the favor of Boethiah. Following a strange map, the Eternal Champion eventually found the resting place of the mail and retrieved it for his war against Jagar Tharn.
The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

During the third era, the Hero of Daggerfall was awarded the Ebony Mail by Boethiah after completing an elimination job.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Ebony Mail is classified as Medium Armor and can be obtained in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind by speaking to Tholer Saryoni in Temple Canton. He will offer a quest to retrieve the armor. When worn, the Mail protects the wearer from fire, magicka, and casts a Shield spell upon the Nerevarine.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

In Skyrim the Ebony Mail can be obtained by defeating the former Champion of Boethiah during the quest Boethiah's Calling. It produces a muffle effect while worn and causes 5 points recurring poison damage per second to hostile NPCs within radius of you.
