Alchemy Acquisitions

The enchanted chest in the Arch-Mage's Quarters

The Enchanted Chest is a guild perk in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It is received by becoming the Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild. It is located inside the Arch-Mage's Quarters, and once per week can duplicate almost any alchemical ingredient.

The Hero may need to speak to Raminus Polus about Alchemy Acquisitions after being made Arch-Mage for a short quest regarding the chest before use.

History[]

The chest was created by Julienne Fanis for the previous Arch-Mage Hannibal Traven. Traven was quite fond of alchemy, and often tasked Fanis with retrieving ingredients for him. Eventually she could not keep up with his requests, so she created the enchanted chest for him. She warns the Hero that she has no idea what will happen if they try to duplicate non-ingredients and will not be held responsible for lost items.

Use[]

To use the chest, place a single ingredient inside and return after 24 hours. The ingredient will be duplicated 10 times, leaving 11 inside the chest. Note that attempting to duplicate non-ingredients (weapons, armor, etc.) will not work (they will not duplicate but the chest will still consume them), nor will attempting to duplicate multiple ingredients at a time (they will be consumed and the chest will be empty).

Do remember to pick up the duplicate ingredients before a week has passed, otherwise the chest will reset and, presumably for the same reason duplicating two or more ingredients at a time will not work, the duplicated ingredients will be destroyed. It should also be noted that the chest cannot be used to duplicate rare ingredients such as Nirnroot, Shepherd's Pie, Pinarus' Prize Minotaur Horn.
