In The Elder Scrolls Online, fast traveling is achieved via the use of wayshrines, or the Transitus Network in Cyrodiil. These wayshrines are dotted throughout Tamriel. Group Dungeons, Trials, and Arenas may also be fast traveled to.
Fast travel takes a far different approach from how the previous games were, as it now requires one to either go to a wayshrine, or pay gold, although it does take the same approach as one has to go to the location. If one chooses to fast travel by paying gold, the cost to fast travel will be raised for a short period of time. Unlike previous games in the series, fast travel can be used almost anywhere, including delves, dungeons, and indoor areas, albeit with some exceptions. One can fast travel whenever enemies are nearby, but they cannot during combat.
Traveling from a wayshrine is instantaneous (this will include a loading screen, but this will be significantly shortened if traveling within the same zone). Not using a wayshrine will take a bit longer, as the player will perform an animation in order to teleport. If interrupted (ie by enemies or having taken several steps), the fast travel will be cancelled.
