Betty netch or betty netches[1] are female netch native to Morrowind. They are smaller than the male bull netch, but are much more aggressive and territorial. The betty netch has a light translucent cap surrounding a dark tan shell and four distinct ventral tentacles.

"The betty netch is a large hovering beast, supported by internal sacks of magical vapors. The betty netch, the female of the species, is smaller than the male bull netch, but fiercely territorial. Cured netch skin, durable, flexible, and variously colored, is used throughout the Empire in garments, armor, weapons, household goods, and furnishings."

  • In the Second Era, The term "betty netch" was used by agents of Daggerfall as a code to describe a female traitor.[2]
  • Netches' domesticated nature, in addition to the different gender names, have similarities with the real-world domestication of cattle, as a male bovine is called a "bull" and a youngling a "calf," though females are interchangeably called a "cow" or "betty."
