"A group of powerful and influential Dunmer families have been ruling Morrowind for millennia. They embody a council made up of five Great Houses: Telvanni, Dres, Indoril, Sadras, and Redoran."
Lleril Morvayn[src]

House Sadras is a Great Dunmer House that rose to prominence during the Fourth Era. They joined the Grand Council of Morrowind, along with House Telvanni, Dres, Indoril and Redoran, replacing House Hlaalu.[1]

Background[]

During the Oblivion Crisis, gates to the plane of Oblivion opened all over Morrowind. Morrowind suffered greatly during these events, and the Empire was held responsible. There was no standing army in Morrowind at the time, just uncoordinated pockets of resistance. House Redoran was the first House to take up arms against the Daedra and closed some of the Oblivion gates ending with the destruction of their capital city, Ald'ruhn. Over several years they built up an army to be reckoned with.[2]

Following the Red Year of the early-Fourth Era, the Empire lost virtually all its power over Morrowind, and never regained full control of the province. House Hlaalu was affected most by the actions of the Empire, as they welcomed Imperial law and customs with open arms, and benefited from it by gaining unrivaled political and economic strength.[2] Due to their close connections to the Empire, the Hlaalu were thus held responsible for the suffering of the Dunmer people. This led to House Hlaalu no longer being recognized as a Great House and were dismissed from the Council,[2] being replaced by House Sadras.[1]
