Fire Damage is a type of spell damage as well as an Enchanting effect in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Fire spells belong to the school of Destruction, and have base Magicka costs higher than Frost spells but lower than Shock spells. Fire damage can also be enchanted onto weapons once a Fire spell has been learned, or used in Spellmaking. Its damage, magnitude, and duration are determined by the Destruction skill. Fire damage can be resisted using Fire Shield spells, potions, or scrolls.
Resistances and weaknesses to fire damage[]
- Those born under the sign of The Lord have a 25% weakness to Fire Damage.
- Flame Atronachs are immune to Fire.
- Trolls have a 25% Weakness to Fire.
- Dunmer have a 50% Resistance to Fire.
- Bretons have a 50% Resistance to Magic and thus to Fire.
- Altmer have a 25% Weakness to Fire.
- Spriggans are weak to fire.
- Wraiths are weak to fire.
- Wisps are weak to fire.
- Vampires are weak to fire.
- Liches are 25% weak to fire.
Novice level spells[]
- Burning Touch: Deals 10 points of fire damage to a single target (on touch)
- Flare: Deals 6 points of fire damage to a single target
- Weak Fireball: Deals 5 points of fire damage to all creatures within 5 feet of target for 3 seconds. Adrienne Berene give this spell for free during the Skingrad Recommendation quests.
Apprentice level spells[]
- Flash Bolt: deals 20 points of fire damage to a single target
- Weakness to Fire: Target is inflicted with a 25% weakness to fire for 30 seconds
- Flame Touch: Deals 25 points of fire damage to a single target (on touch)
Journeyman level spells[]
- Blazing Spear: Deals 35 points of fire damage to a single target
- Fire Ball: Deals 30 points of fire damage to all targets in a 10-ft radius
- Searing Grasp: Deals 45 points of fire damage to a single target (on touch)
Expert level spells[]
- Searing Blast: Deals 20 points of fire damage for 10 seconds on target (Spell Tome)
- Fire Storm: Deals 50 points of fire damage to all targets in a 15-ft radius
- Heat Blast: Deals 70 points of fire damage to a single target
- Scorching Blow: Deals 80 points of fire damage to a single target (on touch)
Master level spells[]
- Flame Tempest: Deals 75 points of fire damage to all targets in a 15-ft radius
- Immolating Blast: Deals 110 points of fire damage to a single target
- Inferno: Deals 246 points of fire damage to all targets in an 87-ft radius (Note: This spell was taken out of the game because it was overpowered, but it can be accessed through console commands on PC)
- Enemies Explode: Fire Damage 5pts in 10ft for 5sec on Target, Fire Damage 70pts in 20ft for 1sec on Target. Delphine Jend of the Bravil Mages Guild created this spell.
