"Firewatch is the closest City-State to the firecone, Dagoth Ur. Legend has it that a great labyrinth resides under that fiery mountain. Here in this city however, the danger comes from other sources..."
―Description in Arena[src]

Firewatch is a major Indoril city in the province of Morrowind and is the capital of the Ouada Gla'amnir region of the Northeast Badlands. It is found in eastern Morrowind, which is under control of House Indoril, and is one of the most important nine cities of the mainland.[1] It is a beautiful city built in the Indoril style, composed of ornate buildings with blue tiled roofs. The Indoril fortress of Bal Tereg is found nearby. The city has taken its name from protecting the region from Red Mountain, the volcano located on Vvardenfell. It is found in a dry badlands area composed of arid plateaus, hoodoos, mesas, and high steppes. The island of Althoa is found north of it.[2]

Geography[]

"A herde of wild guar made their way through the mesas and high steppes of north-eastern mainland Morrowind, following the tracks of the hijacked Silt Strider, as they had been told to. They did not move very fast, but they moved with resolution and purpose, as they had been told to. It would have better to flee Firewatch by boat, but that was an impossibility. He nodded, and steered the silt strider between the hoodoos and arid plateaus of the north-eastern mainland."
―Brief description[src]

The city of Firewatch is based on the northernmost tip of the Northeast Highlands, a vast region that makes up a big portion of the province. The Indoril fortress of Bal Tereg is found in the vicinity, also along Ouada Gla'amnir. Several other settlements are located near Firewatch including the towns of Tel Mora in the west, Velothis Haven to the east, Tel Aedrin to the south,[UL 1] and the grand city of Port Telvannis to the northeast in the Northeast Archipelago. It has a dry badlands climate filled with arid plateaus and mesas, and receives a lot of sunlight despite its northern location. The Sea of Ghosts is heavily populated with seafarers and Buccaneers making Firewatch home to the ruffians of the Padomaic Ocean. Though usually quite warm, in the winters these waters can freeze over and become quite dangerous, resulting in shipwrecks around the city. Firewatch is deep within the reaches of the House Indoril District, making the city affiliated with the Great House.
