Gameplay[]

Upon activating a fishing station, the Dragonborn's view will switch to first person as they cast the rod. The water will splash in the presence of fish. While creatures will nibble twice before putting up a fight, inanimate objects will continue to tug without causing a splash. Some inanimate objects are low-value such as buckets or flagons, but there can be more valuable inanimate catches in inhabited areas. Pieces of armor, enchanted jewelry or Dwemer artifacts are possible loot. Fish and crabs will stay alive in your inventory in case you have a quest to give them as pets or wish to add them to the Fish Hatchery at Windstad Manor (once built on land you purchased as Thane of Morthal). However, if dropped in water they will behave like inanimate objects rather than swimming away.

Facilities[]

Fishing supplies, found as buckets of bait, are the only type of fishing station in the game where fishing can be done. They can be found on shorelines and riverbanks across Skyrim, and used if the Dragonborn currently has a Fishing Rod equipped. While Fishing Maps are useful for locating some fishing stations, others are unmarked because they are inside dungeons, cities, or caves.

The fishing supplies may be found at the following locations:
