For the Good of Morthal is a miscellaneous quest available in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim received from Gorm in Morthal in which the Dragonborn must deliver a letter to Captain Aldis in Solitude from Gorm.
Objectives[]
- Deliver Gorm's Letter to Captain Aldis
Walkthrough[]
Speak to Gorm while he is in Moorside Inn at 6:00 p.m., or at the path between the inn and Highmoon Hall. He will confess that he is concerned about Jarl Idgrod Ravencrone and her ability to lead Hjaalmarch. He will then ask the Dragonborn to deliver a letter to Captain Aldis in Solitude, about the possibility of overthrowing Idgrod.
Once the Dragonborn brings the letter to Aldis, he will state that his discussion about overthrowing Idgrod with Gorm happened before the Civil War. Now, with things as they are, he finds it difficult to see how this will work out. However, he states that he will take it under consideration, and rewards the Dragonborn for delivering the letter.

Trivia[]
- This quest counts toward the favors for citizens required to become Thane in Holds.
- If one has sided with the Stormcloaks, this quest needs to be started before "The Battle for Fort Hraggstad" and finished before the "Battle for Solitude" to avoid issues. Also, "Season Unending" can transfer Hjaalmarch to the Stormcloaks; if that happens, then this quest cannot be started until Hjaalmarch is reconquered for the Empire.
- Although Gorm asks the Dragonborn not to read the letter before delivering it to Aldis, there is no penalty whatsoever if the player decides to go against his will.
