Drop an item?[]

How do you drop an item in Oblivion? I can't move and I missed the dialog...

Hold Shift and then left-click on the item. --TheSpectator 10:45, 23 March 2006 (CST)
You can also point your crosshair up or in a direction where your character could fully extend his or her arm, and left click and hold over the item you want to drop. Works well for single items, but not so well for multiples. It's a fun way, too, 'cause you can huck the item by spinning and releasing the left mouse button. *impish grin*

Trouble getting the game to work[]

I bought the game today, loaded it and after the intro my computer has an error and won't play the game. Has anyone had this problem and if so how can i fix it so i can play the game? Is there a patch that may fix this?

You'd be much better off heading to the official Hardware and Software Issues forum. --Rainith 11:25, 28 March 2006 (CST)

Screenshots[]

Is it possible to take screenshots in oblivion? If so, do you guys want (properly cropped and compressed, of course) screenshots of equipment and such? --Lusitania 06:51, 29 March 2006 (CST)

Yes, and we totally do. Gravewit 08:09, 29 March 2006 (CST)
What is the command or key for screenshots? Print Screen did nothing (no image in clipboard), nor does it list a command in the controls. Niveras 17:33, 29 March 2006 (CST)
I will post the instructions in the PC Tips section. Basically, you have to edit the .ini file. --Rhiadri 10:17, 29 March 2006 (CST)
Alright, I've uploaded a bunch of images of equipment. Could someone give me an example of how to use them? I've created a "spelldrinker amulet" article, and uploaded SpelldrinkerAmulet.jpg, so it would be good if someone experienced in the ways of wikipedia put them together in the proper style as an example.
To place an image in an article, add: [[Image:spelldrinker amulet.jpg|thumb|right|Your Picture Caption]]. --TheSpectator 16:42, 29 March 2006 (CST)
Another good way to figure out how to format something in a wiki - find a page that does it like you want and edit it! The formating should be pretty obvious at that point. Another note - you can easily add your name & time of post to a note like this by type ~~~~ (4 'twiddles'). I use the Insert Signature button at the top of every edit box (second from right) --Rhiadri 20:39, 29 March 2006 (CST)

Painted Forest Question[]

This is really the first time i am attacking monsters and i am doing it in the "painted forest quest". The monsters seem to keep stunning me i believe, it seems like the only way i can kill them is to hit the left mouse button like 90mph in order to kill the things along with the fact that they move all over the place. Any suggestions or is there something i am missing?

First, difficulty slider. Most people try to avoid changing that, but it's there for a reason. Second, make sure to apply the special poison thing the guy gives you to your weapon. --TheSpectator 14:40, 3 April 2006 (CDT)
YOu have to poison your blade with turpentine. It was given to you by the other guy inside there. --Aristeo 19:09, 30 May 2006 (CDT)

Loosing Infamy[]

How do you go about to loose infamy? I can't get purified at churches anymore because they all say I'm sinful, which is true. But I'd like to get cleaned up.

I don't think you can, but perhaps getting your Fame higher than your infamy would get you back in good stadings with the Nine. I've learned to live without the temples. I'm 4/111 fame/infamy.--207.86.178.232 04:03, 5 April 2006 (CDT)
Speaking of temples, what do they do for you, anyway?Jbfballrb 18:26, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
They restore attributes that were lowered (from a "damage attribute" spell or potion). The smaller shrines provided attribute or skill boosts. --TheSpectator21:40, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

You can get your infamy lowered. Mine was up near 14, Fame was 93, now my fame is 100 and my Infamy is 4.

All you have to do to be able to get Purified at churches is to keep your Bounty at zero. It is not related to fame/infamy at all. And you can pay your Bounty by talking to a guard or by paying half through a Thief Guild Doyen. --CiX 16:43, 14 May 2006 (CDT)

Safe Places to Store Items[]

I could buy a house, but it seems a waste of money, considering I can sleep in one of the beds in the Mages Guild in Skingrad (where I joined the guild). Can't I own a container (barrel, wardrobe, etc.) without having to buy a house?

I cleared out the wardrobes in the room I picked out, and put a few things I wanted to keep (fortunately not too expensive or difficult to come by) in them. This worked for a few in-game days, but then recently the wardrobes seem to have "reset" themselves to the original contents.

Currently, I am experimenting with Jauffre's chest in Weynon House, since it originally contained stuff I was entitled to, and I doubt it will be reset with all that armor and weapons. But I have no idea is this reasoning holds any water and I'm taking a small risk that I will lose whatever I put in there.

I believe pretty much every container in the game that is not in a player house will reset at some point. Consequently, I think you'll eventually lose your items. The house at the waterfront in the Imperial City is only 2000g, though, which you should be able to easily afford if you're at a point in the game where you really need to store more junk. --Bishop (rap|con) 04:37, 5 April 2006 (CDT)
You'll also have to buy at least one furnishing thing, which will run you around 500g IIRC. The quest you get when you buy the house will give you the info on where to buy them (Three Brothers Trade Goods). KaloFoxfire 07:49, 11 April 2006 (CDT)

Be Very Careful when storing items in anything that is not "your" house. I lost well over 200 ingredients (from oblivion) by putting my alchemy stuff in the arch-mage room in Imperial city. I think that -all- chests/ect, other than the ones in your home, reset in time. The only reason I even say that is due to the autosave on exiting the room after stocking it with junk. I guess they figured you can decorate your house, but thats all it would be used for. (btw lost my stuff at L38 currently L53 and still have it so i'm betting this answer is the 'right' one)

The best place to store items is surprisingly in a horse. Once you obtain the best horse in the game, Shadowmere, from the the Dark Brotherhood guild, you have a portable storage system. Simply attack Shadowmere until he is unconscious (yes, it's hard with the whinneying) but once he's on the ground you can treat him as if he were a container. When you need an item or have more to put in, just knock him back down and repeat.

Francois Motierre's house in Chorrol

Does anyone know if it is safe to store items in the chests in Francois Motierre's house after completing The Assasinated Man quest for the Dark Brotherhood. It's a real nice house, would love to stay and store all my stuff. tom /amsterdam

Ebony and Dwarven armor and weapons[]

Has anybody been able to find Ebony and Dwarven armor and weapons? I have been playing this game religiously and those are the two types of armor that I've been trying to find, but as of now i still haven't been able to find them.

Both NPCs and loot is scaled. As your level increases you'll see more and more of those higher-level armor sets. --Brilhasti 04:05, 5 April 2006 (CDT)

Keep in mind that in order to get certain weapons and armor you need to be a specific level for instance You need to be 20+ to actually get Ebony armor to drop, I'm not sure about Dwarven, I think its level 10 maybe 15, something else to think about, the only enemies that you will find just walking through the game wearing, heavy armor are usually maruaders, so I would go to maruader camps such as Ft. Allesia down by Pell's Gate, if you want Ebony quickly, look up the Daedric Quest Clavicus Vile, but be prepared for a fight. Also you might try, the Alyeid ruin at the corner where the Red Ring Road and the Road going to Bruma meet, Maruaders usually hang outside the ruin, but inside, its all Bandits. Also there is a maruader ruin just east of Anvil, But there are also quest items in there as well, so you may not want to muck with it until you accomplish "When the Vow Breaks". Max Player Level[]

Does anybody happen to know the max player level?

You have seven major skills that can start at a minimum of 25, which provides a theoretical maximum of level 53. Any bonuses from your race or class specialization will decrease your maximum level.
You can go beyond this max simply by getting yourself thrown in jail, your skills will be decreased (except perhaps for the thieving-based ones). I've heard of someone getting a little beyond level 120, although this is unconfirmed. Chirikov 22:33, 6 April 2006 (CDT)
I haven't opened the TES and messed with it yet and I'm curious about a few things like, can I eventually out-level all the levle-scaled NPCs like you could in Morrowind (since they weren't scaled at all, though). For example, lets say the highest goblin is Goblin Warlord which you start seeing around level 15. If I reach level 100, is the Goblin Warlord still going to be the same Strength / skills / health as the ones I was going up against at level 15? Or, does the same "Goblin Warlord" NPC have higher stats to compensate for my higher level? If so, I'm not so keen on the level-scaling I think.--Brilhasti 00:07, 7 April 2006 (CDT)

It will compensate for your level on the highest of creatures. I had a list somewhere. Thats why I change the difficulty slider whenever I start to get bored with creatures. Its there to moderate the level scaling.

Skingrad Recommendation[]

I'm playing with Random Oblivion 1.1, I talk to people in the order stated on this site and others, yet everytime i kill all zombies in bleak flat cave, eroth refuses to move as if I missed some. Searched the entire cave using my detect lifesigns spell (60ft), yet I can't find no more zombies. I also pushed the lever, but that won't do any good either. Tried with spells (calm etc.), even goaded him outside by attacking him, but after yielding the fool goes back into the cave. Tried it several times, even completely from the beginning of the quest, can't get it to work. This is the last recommendations I need, so I'd really like to visit the univserity sometime... please help, thanks! (Not sure if this should be posted elsewhere, sorry if it should!)

There are a total of seven zombies in there, so count how many you killed. Theres a small alcove off the second main room you come to which I missed the first time I went through there and you might have missed it too. Check your map and see if there are any spots that aren't completely filled in.
Thank you for answering, although I thought I was clear about the fact that I have indeed searched every nook an cranny. I found someone with the same problem on a german forum (http://scharesoft.de/portal/viewtopic.php?t=1185&sid=c72f21aaf3737be0fe9f8fa8aa350c5a), but no answers yet. I believe I will have to try to load from a much earlier point and retry the quest from there. If I get it solved somehow, I will report back. Ok, I started a completely new game, still got the same problem. http://www.forumplanet.com/planetelderscrolls/topic.asp?fid=16702&tid=1873124 deals with the same problem and still no solution.
Ok, starting the game from scratch without random oblivion solves the issue. Perhaps others with the same problem may be able to get it to work by disabling random oblivion and then loading a game before ever talking to anyone in SKingrad, didn't try that. Also started a topic at the elder scrolls forum that got a few responses, perhaps someone is able to igure out a way to complete the quest using the console, I wasn't. http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=349005
Took a look through the Construction Set, easiest way to finish the quest would be to type 'setstage MG01Destruct 100' in console, Erthor might be stuck in the Bleak Flats Cave for the rest of the game but the quest will be finished; the scripting to make him go back to Skingrad or follow you is tied to the dialogue conversation. There appears to be a variable somewhere called 'monsterskilled' that needs to be at 0 before he will talk to you, try 'set MG01Destruct.monsterskilled to 0' (I'm not certain this will work, since I can't figure out how to look at non-global variables within the Construction Set, but this should be correct or at least very close). I discovered an alternate way to finish the quest, however, and it'll be up shortly. Chirikov 15:08, 14 April 2006 (CDT)
Had the same problem and found the solution: open the console and type 'set MG01Destruct.Monsterskilled to 1'. Erthor will follow you back to Skingrad now. Kliffa 00:38, 25 July 2006 (CET)

What OblivioWiki is and isn't?[]

I was wondering what sort of things could/would and couldn't be included in this Wiki. For example, I overheard two NPC's talking about a sneak trainer, and mentioned something along the lines of "he stood still for hours on end so he could be better at hiding". This reminded me of Terry Pratchett's "Night Watch", where one of the characters has a line very similar to this. What I'm trying to say is: would things like real-world references be included here, or is this wiki just for in-game information? 67.78.137.62 22:58, 7 April 2006 (CDT)

Maybe another section for easter eggs or obscure refernces? I haven't seen any myself yet, as it seems Bethesda likes to remain in-character unlike World of Warcraft who is HEAVY on the refrences. Brilhasti 15:40, 14 April 2006 (CDT)

I have an important question. Is OblivioWiki only oblivion or does ot include all Elderscrolls games? --Elder Scrolls Fanatic 15:41, 29 April 2006

I think right now we're really focusing on all things Oblivion, however, if you'd like to add background info or things like that which relate to past games, feel free. --TheSpectator 18:27, 29 April 2006 (CDT)

How about face designs?[]

Is anyone recording the slider settings for certain 'looks' for player characters so that they can then be replicated with a minimum of experimentation (if somebody's already got a picture-perfect robert de niro, why reinvent the wheel?) If so, is this something that might be included in the wiki?

What about the '360??? Its hard not to make him look lame, bloated, or have too small of a head (looks awkward with a helmet)--Skober 02:37, 10 March 2007 (CST)

I agree and have you ever tried an argonian? well i tried hundreds of times an it always has an strange thick throat. and all the characters i make look different from the ones i saw in the face desing thingy. And its also hard to make the colours of the head match the one of its lower body it's almost impossible Demonic Ironic 05:42, 10 March 2007 (CST)

Accidents Happen[]

Right, so, I've loosened the fastenings, and everytime i try to leave Gromm follows and attacks. I haven't tried yielding yet, so I don't know if that would work. But does anyone know of somehow to avoid Gromm?Jbfballrb 16:27, 13 April 2006 (CDT)

You should be able to sneak your way out, I left out the front door while sneaking though if your sneak level is low you might have to leave through the basement. Chirikov 17:37, 13 April 2006 (CDT)

If you don't sneak when you loosen the fastenings, he will notice you, and it is nearly impossible to get past him without killing. Once though, I managed to run all the way to Cheydinhal with him following me.

Try a Chameleon suit or spell with total effects egualing 100+ pts then no sneak is needed, however playing like this makes the game easy and boring. I just use my Chameleon suit when needed.

Broken category pages[]

Categories don't seem to work - the Category: pages don't list any of the categorized pages. Also, editing a Category page while logged in doesn't work. Are there any plans to fix these? clunk 17:34, 18 April 2006 (CDT)

Any word on this? This site would be infinitely more useful to me if the category pages actually worked as intended... clunk 04:21, 3 May 2006 (CDT)

Armor Enchantments NOT Permanent[]

Since I am a treasure hunter, my full Daedric armor has been enchanted with Transcendant Sigil Stones to take off 125 encumberance. All six pieces have one (helm, cuirass, greaves, gauntlets, boots, shield), yet as of late I've noticed these effects... dying off. Instead of the usual 1017 I could carry (with other featherings), I can now only hold 860-some. When I look under my Current Effects section in my magic list, it says my Gauntlets are the only ones still feathering 125. The cuirass is at 0, the greaves 27, etc. I though armor was supposed to have constant effects? Anybody know what's going on? Also note I'm on 360 and have little to no modding skills.

I've noticed that how much my stuff feathers depends on how much i'm carrying. try having about 700 units on you and see what it does
Feather doesn't work as perceived. It doesn't actually add to your encumbrance, it reduces the weight of stuff you are already carrying. Bethesda shows it as an addition to total encumbrance, which is a poor design decision. So if you're only carrying 200 pounds of loot, that's all that can be feathered; it can't reduce the weight of stuff that's not there. Next time you're loaded down, try removing all your armor and putting it on again. See if that fixes you up.
Here's the thing. I have an X360 myself, and the design is that feather adds to your total encumberance limit. Example: 0/500 normal encumberance limit. wearing Gray Cowl of Nocturnal adds 200. final result: 0/700 normal encumberance limit. It may be quite possible that you are either wearing something that is lowering strength or is burdening you. Either that, the condition of the armor is lowering the Sigil stone ability. Highly unlikely, however. --Dragon of the Imperial 18:59, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

How Many Oblivion Gates Total?[]

How many total gates to Oblivion exist in Tamriel? I've discovered nearly 16 in the wilderness already. Also, after you shut the final Oblivion gate, can you still discover ruined Oblivion Gates that were closed by the final one?

I'm not sure, but there are probably well over 30 gates. I've scouted nearly all of the map and there are a lot for sure; I haven't gone around to countin each one though. If you're referring to beating the Main Quest (thus closing all the gates), then yes, you can still discover ruined gates, but you can no longer go to Oblivion. --TheSpectator 20:46, 16 May 2006 (CDT)

Hidden Mythic Dawn Agents[]

Being a fan of chaos, I recently used a Frenzy spell on Bravil's castle smith. To my shock (and amusement when the guards went for him) he summoned Mythic Dawn Armor and Weapons. After screaming "For Lord Dagon," the guards and I slaughtered him. Are there any more of these fanatics I can flush out?

Ahh, yes, that's happened to me before, though I don't know who is and isn't Mythic Dawn. Maybe we can make a list of known NPCs who are Mythic Dawn agents (or suspected Mythic Dawn agents). --TheSpectator 20:46, 16 May 2006 (CDT)
Else God-Hater in the Skingrad Pub where Sinderion lives is also Mythic Dawn. I went in there during the main quest and she bolted straight for me.
The Mythic Dawn agents unmask themselves and attack on sight sometime after completing the Dagon Shrine quest. However, it should be worth noting that if you manage to avoid a particular Mythic Dawn agent for the duration between that and Light the Dragonfires (and thus avoid triggering their attack,) they appear to revert to their harmless villager role. I suppose this makes sense, as there is no real point in attempting to strike someone down in the name of Lord Dagon after the war is over and you lost. I spoke with Else God-Hater after completing the main quest, and she was completely harmless. When asked about "Rumors," she even shared in the jubilant celebration comments that all the other NPCs seem to have at this point! Of course, she still had her trademark rant about the Gods. She's awesome. I can't believe she is (or was) Mythic Dawn. :( I then attacked her out of curiosity. In battle, she used the same spells for summoning bound Daedric equipment that the Mythic Dawn were always known for, and also summoned a Scamp, but her trash talking was pure villager instead of Mythic Dawn, except for *one* instance of "Die, unbeliever!" Upon being slain and looted, she did *not* have a copy of Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes, or anything that would allude to Mythic Dawn membership. All she had was her clothing and a steel shortsword. 68.35.130.224 05:24, 19 June 2006 (CDT)

French Version ?[]

Surfing google recently, I noticed that there were no really useful oblivion websites in french. I want to do something about this as oblivion is really a great game, but my budget and technical skills are quite limited. I figured the easiest way to do it was a wiki like this one. I'm now wondering if we could join forces ? ( maybe opening a french section here, or exchange links...). By the way, is it legal for me to copy text here and translate it, and then publish it ?

I'm not sure. It'd be best to ask this question of User talk:Gravewit for that. --TheSpectator 15:41, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

Mysterious island[]

Is there any way to get on top of the small island east-southeast of the Imperial City Isle? It seems like it has an invisible wall around it. clunk 19:50, 4 June 2006 (CDT)

If I recall correctly, that island is only accessible as part of the Mages Guild quest A Mage's Staff. That's where you find the necromancers who killed some Mages Guild members, and also where you get your staff parts. --TheSpectator 21:20, 4 June 2006 (CDT)

Dead NPC[]

I have several dead NPCs that are dead as part of a quest or whatever, but the game has't removed them yet, its been ages since they died, specifically, i am talking about Galathir, the Prior and Arnora. They are just creepy! I tried googling this issue and got no real help, anyone knows anything? -Valarion, 0300 June 18, 2006.

Hmm, I've noticed that occasionally happened to me as well. I think there are a few dead Dark Brotherhood members still in the sanctuary, even weeks after the Purification. As to the reason, I'm not sure. --TheSpectator 00:20, 19 June 2006 (CDT)
It took an unusually long time (well over the claimed three days or so) to clean up the corpse of Lorgren Benirus (Where Spirits Have Lease,) though that actually did happen...eventually. On the other hand, I haven't checked in a while, but I don't think the game ever did clean up after The Unfortunate Shopkeeper mission, and that was almost two game months ago. Every time I go to shop and I trip over the corpses that he still hasn't removed from his store, I think to myself, "That Norbert Lelles is a seriously, seriously creepy man." 68.35.130.224 04:44, 19 June 2006 (CDT)
It's quite possible that dead bodies in quest-important locations or the dead bodies of quest-important characters will take much longer to disappear due to the fact that their corpse was important to a quest. --Dragon of the Imperial 18:52, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

grey fox stats[]

i seem to have aquired the same stats as the grey foxes mask without earnig them. my fame used to be ~82 and my infimy was ~62 but then i had a fame of 0 and an imfamy of 100 (and no i'm not wereing nocturns veil) is there any way to fix this? it's some what of a hinderance.oh by the way i have a 360. thx.

lost Atronach[]

i sumond an Atronach using the alter of sumoning in the frostcrag spire update than i lost (as in can't find) the Atronach and it whon't let me sommon another one. is there any way i can unsomon or find the one i already have? thx p.s. i have a 360 not a pc

The same thing happened to me. I've been collecting NPC's (mage, dark brotherhood, Knight of the Nine, etc) and really wanted the Atronach to add to my collection. But I have no idea where I left him. Anyone have any suggestions? (this is a 360 problem only, I assume)

Messed up Daedric War Axe[]

I'm on the Xbox 360 and have all the offical plugins and the latest patch thus far. For whatever reason the Daedric War Axe seems to be really strange. One, it's damage is a lot lower then what it should be (fully repaired), even weaker metals like Glass is stronger. Two, is the really strange part. If I try to pick it up off the ground, a message box will show up saying something along the lines of "the weapon turned to dust" and then it will disappear from the game world. Enemies seem to have no problems using it, other then possibly lowered damage. I can pick it just fine from any containers, including bodies. I never had the chance to equip it yet. This happened twice in a row for me and I don't recall having this problem before installing the latest plugin (Mehrunes' Razor). I don't want to remove the plugin. I don't understand why this would happen, but it had to been programmed that way on purpose for whatever reason (the message suggests it's not a glitch) and since I'm on the 360, no fan mods can be put on, so that couldn't be the problem. I don't know if this happens with any other weapons. Did this happen to anyone else with Mehrunes' Razor installed and possibly the latest patch? Did someone at Bethesda fooled around and they didn't notice? If this is happening to others, then could we let Bethesda know to fix it? RBinator 00:14, 21 June 2006 (CDT)

Bethesda made a leveled list of Daedric Waraxes, the waraxes all look the same but their damage is scaling based on your level. They also have a script to make them dissolve when you equip them, but I'm not sure if that was intentional or not (probably was, because some of those waraxes have pitiful damage for true Daedric). If you want a real Daedric Waraxe, you'll have to just grab them off bandits and such outside the new areas. Chirikov 08:14, 21 June 2006 (CDT)

M'aiq the Liar question[]

While running around the world I was in a fight with a NPC, once I beat him I was getting a message saying "M'aiq the Liar is unconscious" I looked around did not see anything nor did I start a quest with him to be following me. So I fast traveled to Skingrad and saw the same message. I then went into my house there slept and there was the message again, it's like it is haunting me so now I have been looking for him out side Anvil by the stables where I first saw him. Any ideas if this is a glitch, it keeps poping up and I have saved several times since. This is on the XBOX 360. Layne 7-25-06

M'aiq must be off somewhere next to a hostile and he keeps getting himself killed. My guess would be to travel to Leyawiin or Bravil or any other place you've seen him and try to kill the creature that keeps killing him. --DragonWR12LB 10:15, 3 August 2006 (CDT)

Hatred's Soul[]

So, while I was updating the dead-ends pages, I noticed a crappy little page detailing something called "Hatred's Soul". Due to it's pretty awesome-sounding ness, I'm interested in what it is, exactly, and where to find it. Hopefully, this will help whoever created that page, too. - Jsparks Aug 10 2006

It's a leveled item, probably related to a quest, but beyond that, I wouldn't know. --TheSpectator 15:20, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Grey Prince stats[]

I probably shouldn't have to ask this but I am. right now I am Level 52 with 100% Skills both Major and Minor, however my progress bar is just shy of leveling up. The reason for not leveling up to 53 is just before i maxed out in Blade for instance I completed Grand Champ Grey Prince Quest and when completed he taught me some skills increasing my stats. the increase of 3 was just enough to max my skill thus leaving me short on my progress bar and not being able to get to level 53. My question is can I some how take back this skill increase get to level 53 and then maybe even get my free training back not that I really need it but it would be nice to get to level 53 with all 100%'s? Layne 8-16-06

Since you're on the 360, then I don't think there's a way to reverse your skill advancement. If you were on PC, I think you could do it with the console, though I'm not sure. --TheSpectator 15:20, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

I'm not sure if this works on the 360 but if you spend some time in jail ( a few days ..not sure how long) some skills will decrease, (usually security or stealth I think) enabaling you to level up. As I said ..this info is sketchy at best. Can someone confirm?

Yes, it is completely legitimate to go to jail and level the lost skills back up and gain levels I'm pretty sure. Usually, as far as I know, it is mostly your combat/magic skills that will decrease. I don't think stealth or security will decrease at all, and from the tips it sounds like security has a small chance of increasing. \*\ Hellhound43 11:30, 31 January 2007 (CST)

quest explanation different then game[]

Hi, Ihave a problem with a quest. This is the quest: Bruma Recommendation

Quest from: Jeanne Frasolic Jeanne wants you to find a missing mage named J’Skar, who is probably trapped in other dimension of sorts. Seek help from Volanaro, who’ll agree to solve your problem in exchange for a favor. You just have to sneak into Jeanne’s room and steal a Manual of Spellcraft from her desk. That’s an easy task. Once you’re done, Volanaro will tell you to meet him in living quarters downstairs at 10 P.M. Wait until this hour and Volanaro will just dispel the invisibility spell on J’Skar. Those ruffians were just making a fool out of their boss, who apparently doesn’t know a thing about magic. Anyways, you can now tell Jeanne that your mission is complete and receive your recommendation.

But this isn't right, Volanaro never says anithing about the book, I can steal it do, but I can't do anything with it, further he doesn't cast a spell to make him vissible, J'skar is in the chamber, being invisible, but I can't speak to him, he only tells me to go away. So I sort of found him but I can't tell Jeanne that. My active quest doesn't mention anything about the book either, it just says that I have to talk to Volanaro and the other women. So I'm stuck. Please help me out, thanx.

ps soory for the double post

Howdy! First of all, make sure that your disposition with Volanaro is above 65 or 70 I think it is, which is required for him to say anything on the topic of J'skar for the book. If the disposition is above, I would say, 75 and he still doesn't say anything about the book to advance the quest, you could use the console to do so if your on PC. Or, you can do it the other way and cast a spell of Dispel touch or target on J'skar and he should become visible and allow to complete the quest (you may need the help of a Detect Life spell to find him).
