Helvard serves Jarl Siddgeir as his housecarl and gives him counsel alongside Nenya. He lives in the Jarl's Longhouse in Falkreath.

If the Dragonborn progresses in the Civil War on the Stormcloaks' side and takes Fort Neugrad, Helvard, along with the rest of the Court, will be exiled to the Blue Palace in Solitude.

Siddgeir: "Helvard! The guards are looking sloppy today. I want you to reduce their wages for the month." Helvard: "Sir, I will shape them up but with the war on it is unwise to reduce their wages any further." OR "We can't afford to lose any men if we wish to keep Falkreath protected." Siddgeir: "I would think a man of your military training would be able to do with less but so be it."

- If Helvard is dead before purchasing the Lakeview Manor plot of land in the Hearthfire DLC, this action will "cancel" out the chance to buy the deed from him or Nenya, even if the Dragonborn is Thane. There is no current fix for this issue. The Dragonborn will have to settle for the other two houses in Hearthfire, making the Land Baron and Master Architect achievements impossible to attain.
- PC (Fix) This can be worked around by changing the relationship rank of Jarl Siddgeir to 2 or 3 using the console command
player.setrelationshiprank 19822 #, where # is the rank number. If it does not work, try changing the relationship rank of Nenya by usingplayer.setrelationshiprank 19823 #command. - The property can also be bought from Tekla if Helvard is already dead. She can be found in the Jarl's Longhouse.
- PC (Fix) This can be worked around by changing the relationship rank of Jarl Siddgeir to 2 or 3 using the console command
