Herma-Mora, also known as The Woodland Man,[1] is the Skaal, Nordic and Bosmeri interpretation of the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora. He is generally regarded as a demon, who once nearly tricked the Nords into becoming Altmer. Ysgramor has many myths related to escaping the wiles of this demon.[1]
Bosmeri cultists claim that Herma-Mora is a separate entity from Hermaeus Mora, but most scholars doubt this.[2]
Herma-Mora helped Miraak escape Vahlok the Jailor when Vahlok was about to deliver the killing blow.[3] Miraak would become his servant thereafter.
The Skaal know him as the Demon of Knowledge.[4] Many tales exist of him trying to gain the secrets of the Skaal,[4] but the Skaal managed to keep him off for a long time, though they were eventually forced to give in to help the Last Dragonborn to defeat Miraak.[5]
