Not to be confused with Hoag.

Hoag Merkiller was a Nord High King of Skyrim in the First Era. He is considered to be one of the greatest war chiefs of his time and instrumental in the formation of the First Empire of the Nords.[1]

He was also known to be a powerful Tongue, as it was shown in his battles against Morrowind's armies during the Skyrim Conquests. During this time he purportedly destroyed seventeen Chimeri villages and two Dwemer strongholds, which led the Dunmer to vilify him as "Hoaga, the Mouth of Mud", a vicious demon with necromantic powers.[2]

He attended the coronation of Emperor Gorieus on the 23rd of Sun's Dawn in 1E 461, along with his father and High King, Kjoric the White. Kjoric later rebelled against the Emperor, but was killed at the Battle of Sungard in 1E 477 or 478. After this, the Moot named Hoag as the new High King.[3]

His reign was short-lived however, as he was killed at the Battle of Glenumbria Moors in 1E 480.[4] He was succeeded by Wulfharth.[3]
