Not to be confused with Hoag Merkiller.

Hoag Stormcloak,[1] also known as the Great Bear of Eastmarch,[2] was the father of Ulfric Stormcloak[3][4] and the leader of the Stormcloak Clan.[1] He is known to have had a more tolerant approach to the non-Nordic population of Windhelm than his son,[5] who banned the Argonian population from living within the city walls.[6] He died in 4E 183[7], while Ulfric was imprisoned due to his involvement in the Markarth Incident. Due to his incarceration, Ulfric was unable to attend the funeral, and had to smuggle his eulogy for his father out from prison in the form of a letter.[2]
