Not to be confused with Hrogar or Hroggi.

Hroggar is a Nord lumberjack in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim who works at the local mill in Morthal.

Background[]

Family[]

Hroggar once had a wife as well as a daughter named Helgi, however, both were caught in the flames of their burning house which was being razed to the ground, and subsequently died. The ghost of Helgi can be found in the quest "Laid to Rest."

Alva[]

"You tempt me mightily, Alva. But I won't cuckhold another man, even a murderer like Hroggar."
Benor[src]

Hroggar's mind is focused on Alva, whom he cares for and protects with his life, so he subsequently moved in with her.

Interactions[]

Laid to Rest[]

The Jarl of Morthal enlists the aide of the Dragonborn to first investigate the remains of his burned down house. Clues will lead to Alva's House. If the Dragonborn enters her house during the night, Hroggar will attack in his confused state. If the Dragonborn kills Alva and let Hroggar live, he will have returned to his original state before the incident. Hroggar explains that he was seduced by Alva and only reclaimed his own mind after she died and so released him.

Woodcutting[]

Hroggar will buy any firewood brought to him.

Dialogue[]

Laid to Rest[]

After starting the quest:

I heard your home burned down. "That's true, but I'm in a new house now. A better house."

What about your wife and child? "Yeah, that was a shame. But now Alva takes care of me and I take care of her."

After talking with Helgi:

I saw Helgi's ghost in the ruins of your house. "Really? How nice."

She's your daughter. Don't you care? "I have Alva to take care of now. I don't need Helgi anymore."

After confronting Laelette and talking with Thonnir:

Thonnir says Alva was the last person to see Laelette... alive. "She came by so Alva could kiss her goodbye. Then she left to join the Stormcloaks."

She said goodbye to Alva, but not to her own husband? "He was cruel to her. He would beat her every night. It's no wonder she fled in the middle of the night."

Conversations[]

Alva[]

Hroggar: "How are you feeling?" Alva: "I feel wonderful, just like every night." Hroggar: "Do you need anything? Are you hungry?" Alva: "Oh Hroggar, you know I'm always hungry. Don't worry, I'll eat when I need to. Oh, look! We have company!"
