You will have to fight your way up the tower. After killing Illia's mother, you can loot the body for a powerful staff, Staff of Hag's Wrath . If you talk to Illia again you can recruit her to join you in your adventures. She is a Mage that focuses heavily upon Frost related spells.

Notes

  • Currently, there is a bug in which Illia is no longer recruitable after you send her home. When you talk to her, she will respond with generic dialogue, (much like a guard), and you are unable to choose any speech options. A solution on the PC to this is to open the console with the ` key, select Illia, and type 'setrelationshiprank player 1'.
  • If you change into a werewolf form during the quest, Illia won't attack you, neither in the tower nor in the final battle. If you use the Fear cry, she will be affected, but won't retaliate. She can also start a conversation with you, but you can't start one with her.
  • If you have Illia as a companion and trade with her, you can take a closet key which opens a key-only door in the Darklight Tower. Inside is a group of potions on a cupboard.
  • It is recommended to give Illia a weapon enchanted with fire or shock damage to counteract the many enemies that are resistant to frost.
  • There is a bug in the Xbox 360 version where if Illia is following you, her clothing becomes invisible. She still seems to be protected by the attributes of her armor, but it sometimes shows up and sometimes does not. This appears to have happened after the Dec 1 patch.
  • After a few times of feeding on her after telling her to sleep as a vampire, she now leaves my service as a follower if I try it again. Not sure if this is a glitch or what.
  • Giving Illia armor at first, will not be equipped for some time, but after one or more fast travelling to locations will she then equip what ever armor you gave her in the beginning. (The gear you traded her will be gone.)
  • Illia will equip gauntlets and boots immediately when given to her, (if the boots have DT). She will also equip rings and chains.
  • After dismissing Illia, she can usually be found in Darklight Tower if you need your equipment back. This currently requires killing her on the 360 and PS3. If she cannot be found there, return to where she was dismissed and turn off all active quests. Set your current destination, (the blue arrow), to Darklight Tower and use Clairvoyance. Follow the trail, you will catch up to her eventually. Of course should the player forget where Illia was dismissed, use the console command 'player.moveto 0004b22e' to move to Illia's location.
  • Illia can be inducted into the Blades. However, although she has normal dialogue of a Blade, she behaves like a generic character with no option to start conversation with her or make her follow you again, (as with when she has been dismissed). (checked on PC, Xbox360)
  • If given armor and a helmet then taking away the armor she will walk around in her underwear.
