History[]

Second Era[]

Main article: Knights of the Flame (Online)

During the Interregnum in 2E 582, the Knights of the Flame was given the duty to protect the Duchy of Alcaire and to lead the helm was Sir Hughes. Around this time, Duke Nathaniel married Princess Lakana of Sentinel to establish relations between the two provinces as well as enforce ties in the Daggerfall Covenant. King Fahara'jad sent in Alik'r Warriors to Alcaire Castle to protect Lakana's recent marriage, this raised suspicion in the Knights of the Flame, more specifically in Dame Falhut. She gathered members of the Flame to her side to foil the Covenant. Falhut planned Lakana's assassination but failed when Sir Hughes and a traveler known as the Vestige uncovered her plan and killed her in her private home. However, Hughes was possessed by the Omen of Fear, a Watcher that is owned by Vaermina, Daedric Prince of Nightmares. Hughes slew Lakana in her room and fled to Firebrand Keep, the home of the Flame. The Vestige followed suit and fought the Knights of the Flame at the Battle of Firebrand Keep. Hughes was defeated and his fate was left unknown in modern text.[2][3][4][5][6]

Third Era[]

Main article: Knights of the Flame (Daggerfall)

During the Warp in the West in 3E 405, the Knights of the Flame left the Alcaire Fiefdom and traveled westward to the Fiefdom of Anticlere. The Knights then swore to protect the Lord and Lady of Reich Gradkeep for as long as they lived. At this point, the leaders of Anticlere were Lord Auberon Flyte and Lady Doryanna Flyte. The Knights then spread across the Fiefdom, into settlements such as the Aldingborne Commons, Chestermarket, and Gallovale.[7]
