The Main Quest of The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr involves taking back Northern Elsweyr from Empress Euraxia and the necromancers and dragons allied with her. It does not deal with the Daedric War storyline of previous Chapters or DLCs, but rather continues the Season of the Dragon story started with The Elder Scrolls Online: Wrathstone. It also features some characters from base game's main quest, as well as concepts from the Reaper's March storyline.

Background[]

When Emperor Varen disappeared from the Imperial City, Euraxia Tharn took advantage of the confusion and seized Northern Elsweyr in what came to be known as the Frostfall Coup. Under the guise of an official diplomatic visit, she had the royal family executed along with most of the palace staff. Her tyrannical rule made her few allies, and she kept the Khajiit in check with intricate bureaucracy and indebtedness. This included brute force, even going so far as to surround Rimmen with siege weapons to lay waste to the city in event of a popular uprising or foreign invasion. However, she did manage to ally herself with a group of necromancers, and hired many mercenaries. Under the command of Lord Gharesh-ri, the Khajiiti militia managed to liberate Riverhold and most of the surrounding area. However, they were still unable to weaken Euraxia's grasp on Rimmen, and the Aldmeri Dominion provided no help due to the ongoing war in Cyrodiil.[1][2]

Some time around 2E 583, Abnur Tharn asks that the Vestige accompany him in searching for a powerful weapon that will end the Alliance War and reunite the Empire.

Main Quests[]

The following quests act as a prologue to the main storyline, but do not need to be completed in order to do the main quest:

Ending[]

Khamira, exercising her leadership as queen of Anequina and making use of her attunement to the Lunar Lattice as well as her knowledge of the legends of Khunzar-ri, manages to open the Moon Gate of Anequina. Prefect Calo and Gharesh-ri hold off the invading Euraxians as Khamira, Tharn and the Vestige enter the Moon Gate and follow the dragons Mulaamnir and Kaalgrontiid in the Plane of Jode. Kalgrontiid draws power from Plane of Jode while the Vestige battles his brother. Finally, Mulamiir is defeated, allowing them to sound the Dragonhorn and displace Kaalgrontiid from Jode's Core. Euraxia, Zumog Phoom, and the Betrayer lay dead, and the dragon leaders have either been defeated or disappeared.

The Mane officially recognizes Khamira as queen. Abnur reluctantly receives a note from the Mane, and leaves for Pelletine immediately.
