Nazir is a Redguard member of the Dark Brotherhood. After the entrance quest, Nazir is the one who gives the Dragonborn their first set of missions/contracts.

Contracts

Nazir will offer contracts on several people around Skyrim. These are optional and have no effect on the Dark Brotherhood questline, but at one point Astrid asks for the Dragonborn to get one contract with Nazir while she decides whether she will allow them to contact Amaund Motierre. Leveled septims are rewarded for each kill, except for the final kill on Safia, for which 35% more than the usual is rewarded.

If the Dragonborn chooses to destroy the Dark Brotherhood, Nazir will be killed, along with everybody in the Sanctuary except Cicero and Babette.

Nazir, Babette, the Dragonborn, and Cicero (if he is spared), are the only members of the Dark Brotherhood to survive the Penitus Oculatus attack on the Sanctuary. After defeating the soldiers, the Dragonborn tells Nazir that the contract is still on and the family lives. Surprised, Nazir says to go on and fulfill the contract while he and Babette move to the Dawnstar Sanctuary with the Night Mother.

After completing the quest "Hail Sithis!," he asks the Dragonborn to make the sanctuary more "livable." The Dragonborn can use the 20,000 given by Amaund Motierre to pay for renovations sold by Delvin Mallory.

Locations

Early along in the Dark Brotherhood questline, Nazir can be typically found on the lower level of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in the dining room, usually sitting on a chair. Later on, however, his location changes to the Dawnstar Sanctuary. He wears the Redguard hood, clothes, and boots.

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "So you're the newest member of our dwindling, dysfunctional little Family. I've heard quite a bit about you." It's a pleasure to meet you. "Save the niceties for now. I have no intention of getting invested in someone who may be dead tomorrow. If you're still breathing in a few weeks, I'm sure we'll be the best of friends." You will hear even more, I assure you. "Ooh, cocky. I give you three days before you screw up and someone runs a knife across your throat. But who knows? I've been proven wrong before." (Remain silent) "Ahh, going for the mysterious and brooding thing, hmm? That may work for your targets, but you'll find I'm not so easily impressed." I need training in Light Armor. "I'll teach you how to use it effectively, and keep you quick on your feet." Astrid said you'd have some work for me. "Did she, now? Well, as it turns out, there are a few lingering contracts we haven't had the chance to complete just yet. And more, dribbling in from time to time. I'll assign them to you as they become available. To be completed at your leisure." Sounds simple enough. "It is. These aren't particularly glamorous assassinations, I'll be honest. Don't pay much, either. But they'll keep you busy. Just do them as you're able. There's no real time limit - the targets aren't going anywhere. You can turn each one in as it's completed, or wait and turn in the whole group when all the targets have been eliminated. Whichever works for you." What can you tell me about yourself? "Ah, well, I'm Redguard, as I'm sure you've noticed. Though not like most of my kind you'll find in Skyrim, that's for damned sure. I am a child of Hammerfell, born of the sands of the mighty Alik'r. In that great desert, blood is a shade of crimson I can scarce describe. My past is long and storied, and not altogether proud. But the Dark Brotherhood saved me from myself. And I have never looked back." "You've got people to kill, my friend. Best get to it."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "So many contract, so little time..." I'm ready for the first set of contracts. "Well then, let's get started. I've got three available right now. Your targets are the beggar Narfi, an ex-miller named Ennodius Papius, and Beitild, a mine boss. When you've completed all those, we'll see if I might have some more." Tell me about Ennodius. "He lives just outside Anga's Mill, in the wood. He was once a miller. Now Papius is just a paranoid recluse who thinks someone is out to get him. And he's right." Tell me about Narfi. "He's a hapless beggar living in some ruins just outside the village of Ivarstead. Easy even for you." Tell me about Beitild. "She seperated from her husband several months ago. Now the two run competing mining operations. Beitild's angry and desperate. A Fighter." "Happy hunting." After Beitild is killed: "I see you're back from Dawnstar. Beitild lies died, I hope?" Beitild is dead. "Of course she is. I hear the mining business is extremely cutthroat. And those hours... they're murder. I could do this all day. Here's your payment." After Ennodius Papius is killed: "How went your meeting with Ennodius Papius? Did you prove his paranoia legitimate?" Ennodius Papius is dead. "Good. And I hope you were careful in that lumber mill. Those splinters and rusty nails can be quite nasty. Your payment, for a job well done." After Narfi is killed: "So, what of the old beggar, Narfi? Is it done? Has he groveled for his last septim?" Narfi is dead. "Congratulations. You slaughtered an emaciated beggar in cold blood. You are truly an opponent to be feared. Here's your payment." After completing all three contracts: Do you have any more contracts? "I'm sorry, I don't. Come see me again later."

Show: Mourning Never Comes

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "Haven't you talked to Astrid? She's by the pool, greeting the Night Mother and her little jester. She has a contract for you. Come see me afterward." After speaking to Astrid: "So many contract, so little time..." Any advice on my current contract? "The contracts I dole out are fairly simple - go to a location, and kill the target. But this is different. The jobs Astrid give you will be more important, and usually more complex. Just keep your wits about you. And for Sithis' sake, don't get killed." What are your thoughts on Cicero and the Night Mother? "I don't like mimes, minstrels, thespians, acrobats, jugglers, troubadours or tumblers. Flutists give me a headache. I particularly hate jesters. As a rule, I'm also not crazy about the corpses of old women. For the Night Mother, I'll make an exception. But Astrid is the only mistress I serve."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Astrid thinks a Family member may be conspiring with Cicero. "Does she? Listen, brother (or "sister")... Astrid is my mistress, and I worship the ground she walks on. But this Cicero business has her a bit... paranoid."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "You reek of death, my friend. I salute you." Astrid wanted me to see you about some more work. "Well then, your timing couldn't be better. As it turns out, I've got two new contracts. One rather easy assignment. and another that should prove quite a challenge. Your first target is an Orc bard named Lurbuk. The other is a vampire by the name of Hern. Happy hunting." If approached again: "Still here? What's the matter, can't handle what I'm throwing your way?" Tell me about Hern. "The contract is for the male, Hern. But you'll probably have to contend with the female, too. So for Sithis' sake, watch yourself." Tell me about Lurbuk. "He is, by all accounts, the worst bard in all of Skyrim. Apparently so many people sought his death, Astrid had to hold a lottery to determine the client." After killing Hern: "You're alive. Then I guess you haven't paid a visit to the vampire yet, hmm?" Hern is dead. "No sarcasm this time. You faced a vampire, and lived to tell the tale. Well done. And if you contracted Sanguinare Vampiris, be sure to get that taken care of. Else you'll end up like our own Babette. Unless, of course, that was your goal all along. Here's your payment." After killing Lurbuk: "Please tell me you flayed that horrible bard alive and made a drum from his skin..." Lurbuk is dead. "Wonderful. The only good bard is a dead one, as far as I'm concerned. All that singing and... mirth. Your payment, as per the usual."

Show: The Silence Has Been Broken
In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "Have you seen Astrid? She needs to speak with you. It seemed urgent. Come talk to me afterward." After talking to Astrid: Any advice on my current contract? "You may be the Listener, or you may just be a lunatic who's started hearing voices. Either way, Astrid is still your mistress. Not the Night Mother."

Show: Bound Until Death
In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Any advice on my current contract? "Slaughtering the Emperor's cousin? At her wedding? Those guards will be out for blood. Wouldn't surprise me if the crowd jumped in too."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "Brother (Or "Sister")." Are there any contracts available? "There are indeed. Three, to be exact. There's Deekus, a shipwreck scavenger. Ma'randru-jo, a traveling caravaneer. And Anoriath, a hunter." Tell me about Deekus. "He's an Argonian layabout, likes to scavenge shipwrecks. My guess is he'll run if threatened. Or swim, if given the chance." Tell me about Ma'randru-jo. "He's an accomplished wizard. And, locating him may be challenging, as he travels with the caravans." Tell me about Anoriath. "The wood elf may run a stall in the city, but he retreats to the plains outside Whiterun to hunt. Kill him there, and no one will bear witness..." "Good luck. And try not to get yourself killed." After killing Anoriath: "Hmph. No arrows protruding from your skull... Can I assume Anoriath is dead, then?" Anoriath is dead. "Ah, so the hunter came to know the fear of the hunted, hmm? Your payment, my friend. Well done." After killing Ma'randru-jo: "You smell like dead cat. Can I assume Ma'randru-jo has been taken care of? (Or if the Dragonborn is a Khajiit: "How went your encounter with Ma'randru-jo? Back in Hammerfell, I always loved watching two cats rip each other to shreds...)" Ma'randru-jo is dead. "Ah! Well done! Well done! Those caravaners can be an elusive bunch. Takes a fair bit of stalking to take one down. But then, that's half the fun, isn't it? Here's your payment. Well earned, indeed." After killing Deekus: "No new boots? Does this mean the Argonian is still alive? (Or if the Dragonborn is an Argonian: "Taken care of that layabout Deekus, yet? Or does the idea of killing a fellow Argonian make your scales crawl?)" Deekus is dead. "Personally, I've always found Argonians to be incredibly unpredictable opponents. Especially near water. In any event, nice work. Here's your payment."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Any advice on my current contract? "Killing Gaius Maro in a city will be challenging because of all the guards, but fights, even murder, are fairly common. Killing him secretly will certainly make things easier on you, but if there are witnesses, so be it."

Show: Contract: Kill Agnis

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "You reek of death, my friend. I salute you." Are there any more contracts, Nazir? "Just one right now, actually. I need you to eliminate an old woman named Agnis, a servant in Fort Greymoor." Tell me about Agnis. "She's a maid. Old, and feeble. But with this contract it's much more of a matter "where" than "who." Your political affairs are your own, but any allegiance you may have in the ongoing war could very well affect your access to Fort Greymoor." After killing Agnis: "Brother (Or "Sister")." Agnis is dead. "Don't worry, my friend, I'll spare you the facetious quip about killing a defenseless old woman. Infiltrating an occupied fort and making it out in one piece is nothing to joke about. Well done. Your payment for services rendered."

Show: Contract: Kill Helvard, Contract: Kill Maluril

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "Brother (Or "Sister")." Are there any more contracts available? "Well, yes. Two of them. But you're reaching the end of what I have available. Your targets are a dark elf wizard named Maluril, in the dwarven ruin of Mzinchaleft. And Helvard, the housecarl of Falkreath. Kill these two, and I'll have one last contract to give you. I'm just finalizing somne details now." Tell me about Helvard. "He's the housecarl of Falkreath. You know what that means? He's the bodyguard to the Jarl himself. So be careful." Tell me about Maluril. "He's dangerous. Very dangerous. A rogue Dark Elf mage doing research into Dwarven artifacts should be both respected... and feared. Just not by you." "You've got people to kill, my friend. Best get to it." After killing Helvard: "Back from your little vacation in Falkreath. So, did you enjoy the sights, sample the food... kill the housecarl?" Helvard is dead. "Hmph. Well, that's sure to throw a branch into Falkreath's well-oiled political machine. Here's your payment. Well earned, as always." After killing Maluril: "So, you've returned from Mzinchaleft! A Dwarven ruin... what an exotic place for a kill. Assuming Maluril is actually... dead?" Maluril is dead. "I hope the elf didn't give you too much trouble. I once got set on fire by a sorcerer. Nasty business, that. But I digress. Here's your payment."

Show: The Cure for Madness
In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "Should have figured the little lunatic would completely snap." Any thoughts on the current situation? "Going after Cicero now would be a fool's errand. That little jester is currently being digested in Arnbjorn's stomach, mark my words."

Show: Contract: Kill Safia

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "So many contracts, so little time..." I'm ready for the last contract. "Hmph. Yes, I believe you are. Very well, then. You need to find and kill Safia, the captain of the pirate ship Red Wave. The ship travels the northern coast, and sometimes isn't even in Skyrim at all. So you'll have to be patient. Good luck." Tell me about Safia. "Ah, yes. The pirate captain. A ruthless she-devil, by all accounts. Deadly with a blade. And let's not forget her crew - loyal and bloodthirsty, the lot of them. This is my final contract, and certainly the most challenging. Be careful with this one, my friend." After killing Safia: "You haven't faced that pirate captain yet, have you? Safia? I only ask because you're still alive..." Safia is dead. "By Sithis, now I am truly impressed! To kill a pirate captain, on her own ship no less? Simply masterful! You've not only earned your payment, but my respect as well. And believe me, friend - that does not come easily. I'm afraid that concludes our business. You have exhausted all available additional contracts. But I'm sure you've got plenty to keep you busy right about now, hmm?"

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Any advice on my current contract? "Hmph. I wouldn't worry too much about this Virane giving you the information you need. Give him a good scare, and he'll squawk like a Hagraven. That said... if your attack on Virane is witnessed, those Markarth guards are going to be none too happy..."

Show: To Kill an Empire
In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Any advice on my current contract? "Yes. You're killing the Emperor himself. The Dark Brotherhood will get one shot at this, and you've been given the honor. So don't screw up."

Show: Death Incarnate

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "So you are alive. I was starting to wonder." The Emperor... it was all a trap. Someone set us up. "Considering most of us are now dead, I assumed as much. And before you ask, no - I don't think it was you. Well, maybe I did, but you saving my sorry hide just now sort of erased any doubts. So thanks." We need to get out of here! "You've got that right. Only a matter of time before we're roasted alive. Come on!" If approached again: "Look for a way out! We are not going to burn to death in our own damned Sanctuary!" "Come on! We've got to find a way out of here!" At the Night Mother's coffin: "Damn it, there's got to be a way out of here!" Upon Nazir opening the coffin: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. It's all right. You've been through a lot. Maybe you should just sit down for a bit..." I have to speak with Astrid! She's here in the sanctuary, follow me. "She's here? By Sithis, I thought we'd lost her. Let's go!" I'm fine. But the Night Mother has another task for me. Let's go. "Oh! Well in that case, lead on. I'm right behind you." (Remain Silent) "I don't know, Babette. Looks like he (Or "she") may have suffered a head wound. Best not let him/her out of our sight..." If approached again: "I'm with you, Listener." After talking to Astrid: "Astrid did the right thing, and now it's your turn. End her suffering." After killing Astrid: "Astrid... By the sands, I still can't wrap my head around it..."

In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: "By Sithis, what a mess. I guess this is the end." Not exactly. The Night Mother has spoken to me again. "What? Well - what did she say?" I must speak with Amaund Motierre once more. "Amaund Motierre? But that would mean..." The contract is still on. The true Emperor must be assassinated. "You mean... there's still a chance? But how? Our plan has gone to ruin, everyone is dead, the Family..." Our Family lives on, Nazir. You have to trust me. "Hmph. All right, then. Go. Go, my Listener. Find out what that slimy bastard Motierre has to say, then send the Emperor to Sithis. Ah, but when you're done, there's no use returning here, is there? I was thinking... the Dawnstar Sanctuary. We could make a proper home there. Listen, when you're finished with this Emperor business, meet Babette and me there. I'll find some way to move the Night Mother. Don't worry. Now go! Babette: "I'm not exactly built for manual labor. Now come on, you've almost got it." Nazir: "One more... pull... Yeeaahh! There." Babette: "Can you get it open?" Nazir: "I think so. Just hold on a moment."

Trivia

• He is voiced by Erik Dellums, who also voices Three Dog from Fallout 3, and Nazir is the only NPC in the game to be voiced by him.
• Nazir is the only character who wears the Redguard clothes and hood.
• If the Dragonborn is a Redguard, when first speaking to Nazir he will insult them, saying, "I am Redguard if you hadn't noticed, but not like you, no, not like you."
• On the completion of his contracts he usually has a joke, pun, or sarcastic remark about the job, except for when assassinating the vampire Hern, which to him is no laughing matter.
• Standing next to Nazir while he is cooking will make him say that he learned how to cook from his father, whom he killed afterwards.
• After completing the quest "Hail Sithis!" and standing near Nazir while he is busy cooking, he might joke about making the Potage Le Magnifique used to kill the fake emperor, although not the same way the Dragonborn did it.
• Upon returning to the Dawnstar Sanctuary after sparing Cicero, Nazir will say, "Why am I not surprised to learn Cicero is alive? I still can't stomach the little clown, but if you've welcomed him here, I won't question it."
• Nazir may comment on Cicero, asking the Dragonborn, "Can't you stop the...dancing?" even if Cicero is an active follower, and thus is not at the Sanctuary.
• If the Dragonborn Calms Nazir During the quest Destroy the Dark Brotherhood,He will not give contracts.

This section contains bugs related to Nazir. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following: Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template  360  /  XB1  ,  PS3  /  PS4  ,  PC  /  MAC  ,  NX  /  PS5  ,  XS  , depending on which platform(s) the bug has been encountered on. Be descriptive when listing the bug and fixes, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person anecdotes: such discussions belong on the appropriate forum board.

•  PC   PS3   Nazir may not have the appropriate dialogue options in order to trigger the second set of side contracts.
• After completion of the Dark Brotherhood questline, when talked to, Nazir may only say, "Haven't you talked to Astrid? She's by the pool, greeting the Night Mother and her little jester. She has a contract for you. Come see me afterward."
• Even after the Penitus Oculatus burn down the Falkreath Sanctuary, Nazir may still warm his hands over what used to be a firepit, even though there is no flame.
•  PC   Nazir will be always sleeping in his bed.
