New Joy was a ramshackle village in Grahtwood, Valenwood, located near Cormount. It was founded in the early Second Era by Bosmer from outside of Valenwood who sought to return to their homeland with their fortunes.[1]
As the years went by, tensions between Cormount and New Joy had erupted. In 2E 420, the village was burnt to the ground, and its citizens with it. Any who tried to flee were slaughtered, including a visiting Camoran noble. Even while no individuals or groups took credit for the incident, it was widely suspected to be the work of Green Pact extremists.[1]
The Razing of New Joy was later used as a frequent political cudgel by the Camorans.[1]
