Walkthrough[]

In any of Tamriel's Mages Guild halls, you may come across a document called the Order of the Eye Dispatch. This document will mention that one of the mages guild's scryers, Skaldir, has made a great discovery, and wishes to meet you in the Mournhold guild hall. Head to Mournhold in Deshaan to meet him; the moment you arrive, his shadow will come to life and kill him. Speak to Bonafryd about what just happened, and she will tell you that she and Skaldir belong to the Order of the Eye, and that they have discovered about a terrible Daedric artifact. She will ask you to go warn the other members of the order.

The other members can be visited in any order. Neelo is in Stormhold in Shadowfen, just east of the wayshrine. He will initially distrust you, but you can intimidate him into acting rationally. If you do not intimidate him, [?]. He will allow you to take his notes, which he has hidden among the nearby roots. The notes will mention him consistently seeing a Breton woman when scrying for the artifact.

Adeber Loumont is in Shornhelm in Rivenspire. Head to the mages guild there and speak with Eloic Montieu; he will tell you that Adeber needed some alone time and has probably headed for the area behind the guild hall. Head there, and you will find Adeber's body alongside his journal. The journal will mention that his scrying with crows has revealed something resembling a door or portal, with a key or arrow going through. You can bring the news of Adeber's demise to Eloic, but doing so will not impact the rest of the quest.

Wenridil is in Marbruk in Greenshade. She will be behind the Queen's Residence. The moment you arrive, she will be attacked by her shadow and flee; kill the shadow, then seek her out in the mages guildhall. She will be hiding in the corner; speak with her and she will tell you that she hid her notes in the planter on the other side of the room. These notes will mention that she saw something spherical, yet totally impassable.

Once you have warned all three of the other mages, you will see a vision of a woman named Lilatha. Speak with her, and she will tell you that she is from the Psijic Order. She is seeking the same artifact that the scryers are after; she thinks that finding it will help stop the murders. She is having trouble finding it though; she tells you that in order to find the artifact, she will need you to gather two items, an Anuic Lantern and a Liminal Lens. These can be used to power an artifact called the Obscuros, which can be used to locate the Daedric artifact.

For the lantern, Lilatha will direct you to a sunken ship off the coast of Khenarthi's Roost. Said ship will be off the southern coast of the island; search the inside and you will find a note saying that a great prize was stolen from this ship and hidden at Hazak's Hollow, on the northeast of the island. Head there and look for a freshly packed crate; it should be on the westernmost pier. The crate will contain the Anuic Lantern.

The Liminal Lens can be found in The Howling Sepulchers in Craglorn. It will be in the northeast, near the end of the road there. Head all the way through the dungeon and to the Dragon Priest's Burial Chamber. The Lens will be in the chest next to where the dragon priest Akiirdal is standing. You will probably have to defeat him before you can claim the lens, and he is quite strong, so come prepared. On your way out, make sure to take the left path so you can grab the skyshard in this dungeon, if you do not have it already.

Once you have both the objects, head to Vulkhel Guard in Auridon. Lilatha has prepared a boat for you there to take you to her location, but the moment you find it, Bonafryd will appear and tell you not to leave yet. Speak with her and she will tell you that she has been tracking you ever since you spoke to her in Mournhold. She will insist that it is too dangerous to go on this trip alone and that she should come with you. At this point, you can choose whether to accept that offer. If you refuse, she will stay behind and secretly make her own way to the island. Should you accept, you two should then board the boat and set sail for Lilatha's island.

Once you are on the island, follow the path to reach Liliatha's location. You will find her at a campfire; she will tell you to follow her to the Obscuros Scrying Chamber. Inside the chamber, Liliatha will be attacked by her shadow. Defeat it, and then Bonafryd will enter; she reveals herself to be working for the entity that is opposing you, and will proceed to attack. Deal with her too, then place the lens and the lantern in the machine and activate the Obscuros. You will see a vision of something happening in the Clockwork City. After seeing the vision, speak with Liliatha to finish the quest.
