Okin is a unique Nord Hero War Axe found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

History[edit | edit source]

Old Nordic stories say it was one of the weapons that Kvenel the Tongue favored when he fought in battle.[1] The other weapon was the legendary sword, Eduj. Okin was forged by Haman Forgefire, upon specific request by Kvenel.[2]

Acquisition[edit | edit source]

Okin can be obtained in the ruins of Volunruud after defeating Kvenel the Tongue during the quest "Silenced Tongues."

Smithing[edit | edit source]

It can be upgraded with a Steel Ingot at a grindstone and also benefits from the Steel Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

This section contains bugs related to Okin. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  1. Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening.
  2. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template  360  /  XB1  ,  PS3  /  PS4  ,  PC  /  MAC  ,  NX  , depending on which platform(s) the bug has been encountered on.
  3. Be descriptive when listing the bug and fixes, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person anecdotes: such discussions belong on the appropriate forum board.
  •  PC   360   PS3   Occasionally, either Eduj or Okin will drop alone without the brother weapon. If this happens, reloading and killing Kvenel the Tongue may help. Sometimes he will drop one of the brother weapons and there will be one on the ground and another in his inventory.
    • Several instances have shown that searching Kvenel's remains more than once will likely discover the brother weapon that was not present during the first search.
  • If you only find Eduj, going back to Volunruud after a few days you will fight Kvenel again; however this time he will fight you with Okin, and after his destruction it is possible to gain the legendary axe.
  • If placed on a weapon plaque, Okin may become impossible to remove.
