The Poacher's Axe is a unique woodcutter's axe available in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It serves as a tool for chopping wood and does additional damage to animals.

The axe bears the following unique enchantment:

Unlike most unique enchantments, it can be disenchanted at an arcane enchanter to learn the enchantment.

This item can be found wielded by a bandit near the bandit chief at Halted Stream Camp. The bandit is usually an Orc and tends to be found either near the grindstone above ground or within the mine. If the axe is not collected the first time, it may not respawn when the location resets, but can randomly be found at a general store, such as the Riverwood Trader. Alternatively, the axe may respawn on a bandit if the player receives a radiant quest with the target located at Halted Stream Camp.

The Poacher's Axe, unlike most tools, can be upgraded at a grindstone with a steel ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk, though it does not benefit from any Smithing perks.

  • Unlike most axes, it has a swing speed of 1.3, which is the same as daggers, but unlike the woodcutter's axe, it is affected by one-handed perks.

    • Well, I'd love if any of these theories are true, but the truth is its probably just an enchanted axe. I can't image a daedra created...
    • Or someone that knew how to enchant although this is an uncommon enchant probably becuase it's only usefull in hunting not so much bat...
