For the dragon priest mask, see Rahgot (Mask).

Rahgot (Dragon Language: RAhGOT Rahgot, "Anger") is one of the named dragon priests in Skyrim. His full name translates to "Anger" in the dragon tongue. He is the primary antagonist of the quest "Siege on the Dragon Cult."

Background[]

Rahgot is believed to be one of the last remnants of the Dragon Cult around 1E 140. He led a small cult in the secluded monastery of Forelhost high in the Jerall Mountains.

A legion of King Harald's soldiers, commanded by Skorm Snow-Strider, discovered the hidden stronghold of dragon cultists and laid siege to it for several weeks. Once the main gate had been breached, Rahgot and his followers retreated into the interior of the monastery, collapsing the main stairway to hinder access to the refectory.[1]

The priest devised a plan for the cult to commit mass suicide in the main chamber, believing that if Skorm and his men did eventually break through the main door, the sight of the mass suicide would somehow deter them from searching for other survivors within the monastery and thus he would survive.[2]

He ordered his alchemists to manufacture large quantities of deathbell for the cultists to ingest[3][4] and also poisoned their own water supply.[5] Dissent was dealt with brutally; when Rahgot's chief alchemist questioned his orders for mass suicide, she was murdered.[6][4]

The mass suicide was eventually carried out. Rahgot ordered the burial of the children's bodies[3] and the remaining cultists perished in their sleep after absorbing the poison.[4] Just as Rahgot had imagined, the aftermath horrified Skorm when he had seized the fortress, and he proceeded no further.[1] It is unknown what happened to Rahgot other than that when he died he was sealed in a sarcophagus within the refectory.

When he is encountered, Rahgot is accompanied by a number of leveled draugr.

Interactions[]

Siege on the Dragon Cult[]

Rahgot can be encountered within the Nordic ruin of Forelhost during the quest "Siege on the Dragon Cult."

Notable items[]

Upon defeat, he drops Rahgot—one of the eight mysterious dragon priest masks located throughout Skyrim. Collecting all eight masks is a requirement for the unmarked quest to restore the dragon priest shrine. He also has a leveled amount of 2000 Gold. The Dragon Priest Staff can also be looted from his body.

Trivia[]

  • If the Dragonborn comes back to Forelhost after defeating Rahgot, a generic Dragon Priest may rise from the sarcophagus.
