Septims, the currency of Tamriel, are often found as randomized loot.

Random loot denotes the spoils of specific encounters in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Items such as weapons, armor, and gold coins appear in various locations based on player level. For example, a level 5 character would get a hunting bow and 10 iron arrows from a chest, while a level 62 player could get Ebony Armor from the same chest. Rewards gained from quests are seldom randomized.
Script[]
Each spawn location for randomized loot contains a script that selects an item from a list of possible loot.

- On surfaces such as desks or bookshelves
- Select rewards, such as with Civil War Quests
- Rewards for Radiant Quests, as almost all dependent on player level
