  3. Talk to Admiral Galvendier

Walkthrough[]

This walkthrough is for normal difficulty. Players playing on Veteran may have different experiences.

Upon entering Dreadsail Reef, you will find yourself in the hull of a ship. In this ship, you will find a man named Admiral Galvendier; he will tell you that the ship is here to eliminate the pirate queen Taleria and her fleet. He will give you the task of heading ashore and eliminating the queen.

Head above deck and jump overboard, then swim towards the island to the east. Once at shore, head up the path for your first wave of enemies. Your primary focus when dealing with hordes of regular enemies should be the Keelcutters, as they can deal some heavy damage. You should also watch out for the Swashbucklers, who like to jump onto the furthest player from them.

While heading further up the path, take care to avoid the catapult fire. Eventually, you will find the door to the Bloodsport Arena; the first boss waits inside. You will have to jump down to their platform; make sure not to accidentally jump in the water, as that will kill you. First, you will have to kill a few magical dogs before the actual bosses show up. One of them will enter the battlefield first; Turlassil is associated with the element of ice and Lylanar with the element of fire. There are two orbs to the side of the room; the red one will bestow the player who uses it a temporary dome of fire and the blue one a dome of ice. Get the dome of the opposing element over the boss. The dome will damage the player who holds it, so make sure you switch it around. The boss will summon some atronachs to its aid; make sure to deal with these fast. After a while, the boss will teleport back out of the arena and the other boss will enter the fray. Deal with him the same way as with the first boss, just use the opposite element. Once the second boss is sufficiently weakened, the first boss will come back; you will now be facing both of them. During this stage, make sure the fire and ice domes do not collide; this will cause explosions that will hurt your team. Make sure to kill the bosses at around the same time.

Once both are dead, head on into the Reef Warren. Here, you will notice a split in the road. Go either north or south; it does not matter which side you pick, as you will have to go down the other path later. If you head north, you will find yourself in the caverns; drop down into the water below. Follow the stream to the end and deal with the enemies there while avoiding the poisonous plants, then use all three levers there at the same time to open the way ahead. head on and go for a swim; you will get sucked along by the current, but you can press X to leave the water again once you are at the right point. There will be more enemies here as well as more levers; same deal as before. This song and dance will repeat itself one more time before you reach the room with the miniboss, Bow Breaker. Bone Breaker's weak point is his tail, so target that. Also make sure not to get overwhelmed by the other enemies this boss spawns.

Once the boss is dead, head through the next door and use the steering wheel to undo one of the locks preventing you from moving to the next real boss. Then jump down the ledge; you will find yourself in a tavern full of non-hostile pirates. Do not attack these pirates. Instead, head west to find your way back to the road split and take the other path. If you head south now, you will have to deal with some enemies before you reach the Tempest Heights. In this open-air area, you must watch out for lightning strikes; you will be safe from them if you take cover. Head along the path and fight your way across the bridge, and you will find another area with levers and a gate. you will have to search for a bit to find these levers; one is across a bridge, one is next to the gate and the other is to the left of the gate. Push on and you will find another such situation. Pull the levers and head through the gate, then across the bridge to find one last lever situation.

Behind this gate rests the second miniboss, Sail Ripper. This guy likes to place an area of effect on a random player; when this happens, look for the donut-shaped area of effect in the room and stand in the middle to dispel the effect. Other than this the boss is fairly straightforward. Once he is dead, proceed on and turn another steering wheel to open the way to the next boss. Jump down the cliff and you will find yourself in the pirate tavern again; head through the gate to the east to get to the next boss arena, the Coral Cavern.

The boss here, the Reef Guardian, likes to create weaker copies of himself; kill these weaker versions first lest you get overwhelmed by them. He also likes to move to one of the puddles in this room to make himself invulnerable; when this happens, a few players should jump down the hole in the middle and navigate the waters toward the symbol of the puddle he is standing at. There, they need to defeat something called a Reef Heart to make the boss vulnerable again.

Once the Reef Guardian lies dead, proceed through the door to the east. Take care not to fall into the water in the next room; that will kill you. Fight your way through the last waves of enemies on your way to the final boss, Fleet Queen Taleria. When you reach the Coral Caldera where the pirate queen resides, jump down the ledge to confront the boss. She will transform into Tideborn Taleria, a very powerful final boss. This is among the most difficult fights in the game. You will be standing on a donut-shaped sand bank with Taleria in the middle. Make sure one of your tanks is diverting Taleria's attention away from the group, and one of your healers is constantly healing said tank. Taleria likes to summon tornadoes that will circle around the field; make sure you stay ahead of them, as getting hit by them will kill you instantly. She also has an attack where she will quickly summon a tidal wave; dodge this by getting into te water, but make sure to leave the water again quickly, as it will damage you. Taleria also has the tendency to summon her minions to the fight; these can quickly overwhelm you if not dealt with immediately. Finally, from time to time, a bridge will appear; a few players should cross to fight the mage on the other side. Once said mage is at half HP, he will create a portal back to the donut; follow him through the portal and beat him there.

Once she is dead, talk to Admiral Galvedier to finish the quest.
