Rejoining the College is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. If the Dragonborn attacks any member of the College—be it a teacher or student—or gets caught stealing, they will receive this quest. At this point no member will speak to the Dragonborn and no further progression of the College quests may be made.

Background

I've been suspended from the College for my actions. I should speak with Tolfdir about having it lifted.

Objectives

1. Speak with Tolfdir
2. Give Tolfdir 250 gold to lift your suspension (first suspension)
3. Pay Tolfdir 500 gold to lift your suspension (second suspension)
4. Pay Tolfdir 1000 gold to lift your suspension (third suspension)

Walkthrough

The Dragonborn must speak to Tolfdir and pay the fine he demands. If it is the Dragonborn's first suspension the fine will be 250 , the second suspension is 500 , and the third and final allowed suspension is 1000 . Once the fine has been paid, the Dragonborn will be readmitted into the College of Winterhold. This can happen even after the Dragonborn has become Arch-Mage.

It is very similar to the Dark Brotherhood quest "Honor Thy Family" in which the Dragonborn is suspended from the Dark Brotherhood.

Note: There are three instances of this quest being completed, once after every stage of paying for one's suspension.

Trivia

• If an apprentice of the College dies while following the Dragonborn, they are held responsible and this quest is automatically added to the journal.

Bugs

•  PC   There is a rare chance that getting killed will start this quest.
  •  360   XB1   Similarly, if the Dragonborn is a member of the College and is killed by either a follower or a summoned creature, their death will trigger the quest.
•  PC   360   PS3   Sometimes, after paying Tolfdir, the quest won't be updated.
•  PC   After using a command to create a clone of yourself, and then killing that clone, the quest will commence.
•  PC   360   PS3   Sometimes, when entering the College, the Dragonborn will be attacked and not be able to pay Tolfdir.
