Roggi's Ancestral Shield is a unique iron shield found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is unique in that it is a quest item obtained during the quest "Find Roggi Knot-Beard's Ancestral Shield," given by Roggi Knot-Beard, in Kynesgrove.
Acquisition[]
Roggi's Ancestral Shield can only be found during the quest "Find Roggi Knot-Beard's Ancestral Shield." Possible locations are:
- Ansilvund
- Cronvangr Cave – listed as Cronvangr Hall
- Cragwallow Slope
- Lost Knife Hideout at the Lost Knife Cave
- Stony Creek Cave
- Uttering Hills Cave
History[]
Roggi Knot-Beard's ancestor lost the shield in a cave. He asks the Dragonborn to retrieve it for him.
Smithing[]
Roggi's Ancestral Shield can be upgraded at a workbench with an iron ingot, however it does not benefit from any Smithing perks. This means the armor cannot be improved past flawless quality without boosting the Smithing skill over 100. This can be achieved by using enchanted items and/or blacksmithing potions to Fortify Smithing.

- After completing Roggi's quest, the shield may randomly appear in Steamscorch Mine. It will no longer be labeled as a quest item, and approaching Roggi will offer no additional dialogue.
