Scars Never Fade is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls Online that takes place in Gray Mire in Grahtwood and begins by talking to Officer Parwinel. She is supervising a group of Argonian spies. She wants to find out what they think of the Dominion.

At a meeting of the three Argonian leaders, Slim-Jah yells "Hail Sithis" and kills Uta-Tei because Uta-Tei and No-Fingers want to ally with the Dominion. Slim-Jah was once a Shadowscale, and No-Fingers asks for help in killing her hunters. He gives the Vestige Comes-When-Called, a tiny guar, to help track them down.

The Vestige kills the hunters, and No-Fingers finds where Slim-Jah is hiding. He was a Shadowscale, so he can't kill her, but he gives one Eager-Teeth, a feisty guar, to fight by their side.

Walkthrough[]

Outside the barricades to The Gray Mire, you will find a woman named Soldier Alque. She will tell you that the Argonian tribe here is being contained until their intentions are clear, and will direct you to speak with Officer Parwinel if you wish to help resolve the situation.

Parwinel will be in the big tent to the south. Speak with her and she will tell you that these Argonians are former slaves; they have more reason to hate the Ebonheart Pact than anyone in the Aldmeri Dominion. Her superiors do not trust them though, hence the barricades. Their leaders refuse to speak with the Dominion officers, so Parwinel will send you in to talk to them.

Head in and speak with the leaders. Uta-Tei will be just beyond the barricade; speak with her and she will tell you that in her eyes, there is little difference between the Dominion and the Bosmer who gave them these lands. She hopes that one day the Dominion will see that they are in fact allies. East of here, you will find No-Fingers sleeping. To wake him up, grab a bucket of water from the table to the east and drop it on him. Near the bucket, you will also find a copy of the lorebook War Customs of the Tribal Bosmer, so be sure to take it with you. No-Fingers will not be thrilled about being woken up this way, but he will talk to you and answer your questions. He has no issues with the dominion, so long as they leave him and his tribe alone. Finally, seek out Slim-Jah in the south of the area. She will not want to speak with you, but you can persuade her to speak. If you do not persuade her, [?]. Slim-jah does not approve of the Dominion, and sees them as no better than their former slavemasters.

Once you have spoken with all three, the tribe will hold a meeting to determine what to do about the barricades. You should attend this meeting in the center of the area. At the meeting, Slim-Jah will murder Uta-Tei and then flee. Speak with No-Fingers about this and he will tell you that Slim-Jah was once a Shadowscale, and that this assassination was probably part of a larger plan. If even one Dominion soldier gets attacked by Slim-Jah or her hunters, the tribe will most likely be slaughtered. To help track down Slim-Jah's hunters, No-Fingers will lend you his pet Guar, Comes-When-Called.

Search the beaches for the hunters. Comes-When-Called will follow the scent of the hunter there and guide you to them. Once this hunter is dead, search the Breakpoint to the west; the guar will once again be your guide. Next, head north from here to the Backshore and hunt the hunters there; there are two this time. Finally, head southwest and clear out the hunters at the Foreshore; these will attack you outright so you will not need your guar pal. Once all of the hunters have been killed, meet up with No-Fingers in a cave to the southwest.

No-Fingers will tell you that Slim-Jah is deeper in these caves, and that she is trying to use the Wamasu matron Mother Lightning to her advantage. Your job is to kill them both, though you will get another pet guar, Eager-Teeth, to help you in the fighting. You will have to fight your way through many hunters and wild beasts before you reach the bosses, who are located in the northwest of the cave. Slim-Jah will not be too tough to take down, but Mother Lightning may put up some resistance. Once both are dead, head out of the cave and back to the Gray Mire.

Once back, speak with No-Fingers. He will tell you that Officer Parwinel is growing impatient, and that someone has to speak with her. He is afraid that she will hear about the fighting and decide that the Argonians have no place in this land, so he will ask you to go lie to her. She will be just up ahead; you can either lie to her or tell her the truth. If you tell her the truth, you can still persuade her to let the Argonians stay, but if you lie, you will not have to persuade. If you neither lie nor persuade, the Argonians will be forced off this land. Either way, the quest will end here.
