"Did you see those warriors from Hammerfell? They've got curved swords. Curved. Swords."
Hold Guard[src]

The Scimitar is a somewhat rare, curved sword that appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Its damage is equal to that of an Elven sword, only it is lighter and less valuable.

Locations[]

The scimitar typically cannot be purchased from a merchant or blacksmiths. However, there are several locations where one may be found:

Variants[]

Smithing[]

Though the scimitar cannot be forged by the Dragonborn, it can be upgraded with a steel ingot at a grindstone, and also benefits from the Steel Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

This section contains bugs related to Scimitar. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  • If the scimitar is the second weapon to be placed on a weapon rack or shield plaque, it will be in the correct alignment, but much higher up than the other weapon.
    • Placing the scimitar first avoids this issue.

Trivia[]

  • The Scimitar mirrors the real-life Scimitar, a weapon that originated in the Middle-East.
